UK Foodbanks 13 million people live below the poverty line in the UK. Every day people in the UK go hungry. Please help us help them.

Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. Trussell Trust foodbanks provide a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis in the UK. In 2011-12 foodbanks fed 128,687 people nationwide, 100% more than the previous year. Rising costs of food and fuel combined with static income, high unemployment and changes to benefits are causing more and more people to come to foodbanks for help. The Trussell Trust partners with churches and communities to open new foodbanks nationwide. With over 250 foodbanks currently launched, our goal is for every town to have one.

We have a number of events coming up in November at the Old Forge Community Hub.....

✳️ 3rd - Support for SEND kids drop-in 10am-12pm.
East Sussex Parent Carer Forum will be here to offer advice to families.

✳️ 6th - Community Breakfast 10am-12pm.
Join us for a pastry & hot drink. Meet others from the local community.

✳️ 13th - Community Cuppa 12-1pm (weekly from this date) .
Enjoy a hot drink & biscuits, chat with other local people & ask us about our services.

✳️ 18th - Free healthy lifestyle service 10am-12pm.
Support to stop smoking/ va**ng, weight management and healthy eating.

✳️ 25th - Community chef workshop 1- 2.30pm (please contact us to book in).
Energy efficient cooking, healthy everyday meals & enjoy a meal at the end together.

Thanks to our recent harvest donations, we are quite well stocked with items this week. However, the warehouse juice shelf is almost empty!
If you are able to support us, please drop a carton or two of any long-life fruit juice into one of our collection points 🍏 🍊

Come along to our Community Hub on Tuesday 27 October between 10-12noon if you are looking for work but have life circumstances that are making it difficult.

Rob from Connect to Work would love to have a chat with you and can also do a 'Better Off In Work' calculation for you.

Last year we gave out 31,600kg of emergency food to local people who were referred to us by local agencies.

21,600kg of this was donated by the community.

This meant that we had to make up the difference of 10,000kg to ensure everybody was able to receive their much needed food parcel! This amount of food has a value of £28,000 which we had to purchase ourselves.

As a local, independent charity this is a huge drain on our resources and we are grateful to all the businesses who Sponsor a Shelf and individuals who either donate food or give a financial donation.

This week we would ask you to consider giving a monthly donation towards our work. Every £1 makes a difference (with an extra 25p gift aid if you are a taxpayer). With our Community Hub also providing a wide range of support services available to all, you would be helping to make a positive impact on your community. 💚

We are so thankful for harvest donations as they help stock our warehouse shelves, this time of the year, and it all goes a long way to provide for those in our community who are facing hardship 💚
