Herb farm volunteering sessions in July were absolutely glorious. So many plants to harvest and admire, the Elecampane is looking stonking & even with the stormy skies overhead, everyone kept on tending to our medicinal delights

Summer is a great time to start volunteering with us as there is so much to see and do - and plant ID is that we bit easier when everything is in full flower. Sign up for a one-off, every week or once a month, whatever suits you - absolutely no prior experience required.

We have weekly volunteer sessions on Wednesdays from 4-6pm and monthly on the first Friday from 10am-1pm - come along and geek out with plants with us

Community Herbalism in Practice: Bring herbalism to your community, with reference to political considerations around identity, access and more.
Explore setting up projects, running workshops & working with volunteers, including legal and safety considerations

Practical Herbalism

Sensory Herbalism: Explore our herbal allies from your direct experience through embodied practices. Rekindle an older way of knowing that many indigenous people practice around the world, and bring it to your community herbalism practice

Ecological Herb Gardening: Respect and (re)connect with the more-than-human world. Explore the principles of designing and growing a herb garden - whatever space or experience you have

Remedy Making: How to make the most potent medicines with practical tips and considerations, rooted in a deep knowledge of the plants and working with them.

In-depth Herbalism

Herbal Actions, Energetics & Constituents: Look beyond simple, yet somehow confusing lists of what plants “do” and see the broader energetic picture and chemical make up of the plants

Join Rhona & Soraya at the Grass Roots Remedies herb garden on Lauriston Farm in North West Edinburgh

Join us, we're going to be -

🌻 harvesting Chamomile & St. John's Wort 🌻
🐌 keeping the slugs off our tasty Borage & Milk Thistle 🐌
🌾 weeding, watering & harvesting Vervain, Mugwort, Yarrow & much more 🌾
🌳 keeping our tender young trees free from the grass that is threatening to swallow it.... 🌳
🌱 potting up self-seeded baby plants and maybe taking a few home? 🌱

🌱🌾🌱 Farm Plant Ally Immersions 🌱🌾🌱

We have 3 glorious afternoons of herb appreciation coming up as part of our Plant Allies offering this season, including a couple of spaces left for Agrimony this Friday from 2.30-5.30pm. https://grassrootsremedies.podia.com/agrimony-immersion-friday-31st-july-2-30-5-30pm

In each session we focus on the plant of our current lunar cycle, including:

🌻 taking time to tune into the nature around us on the farm 🌻

🪻 spending non cognitive time with the plant, drawing, sitting, reflecting 🪻

🏵️ enjoying the plant as part of a community tea tasting 🏵️

🌷 making medicines with the plant 🌷

All sessions are held at our herb farm on Lauriston Farm from 2.30-5.30pm and cost £25 each
