This weekend, Scotland faced Haiti in a historic match, with both nations appearing at their first World Cup in decades. ⚽️
But did you know that, beyond the pitch, Scotland has been standing alongside Haiti for years? 🏴🤝🇭🇹
Haiti continues to be one of the most unstable countries on the planet - and the impact on children's health has been devastating. Decades of political instability, repeated natural disasters, and near-total infrastructure collapse have left children here with almost no viable route to safe surgery. The existing systems are so fragile that even the quality of care possible is life-threatening.
That's why Kids Operating Room has been working with local healthcare teams in Haiti since 2019 to strengthen surgical capacity, including the installation of operating rooms and sustainable power solutions that help keep surgery running when it's needed most. 💛
As one healthcare professional told us:
"Every power outage brought deep concern. In those critical moments, the lights could fail, essential equipment could stop, and the safety of a child undergoing surgery could be put at risk.
The impact of this system goes far beyond technology. It helps protect lives, gives healthcare teams the confidence to focus on the child in front of them, and brings reassurance when every second counts.
Thank you for transforming energy into life and uncertainty into hope." ☀️
We are making safe surgery possible, so kids can make anything possible.
