Our Student Hopes for the Future series continues!

This time, we hear from Cherene, Student President at Borders College Students' Association. Cherene is calling on the new Scottish Parliament to end the uncertainty caused by short-term funding cycles for essential student mental health initiatives.

Cherene’s priority for the new government is clear:
👉 Commit to secure, multi-year funding for vital mental health projects, such as the Think Positive project, to allow for real long-term planning.

What are your hopes for the new parliament?

Our Student Hopes for the Future series continues, focusing on an issue that affects so many in our community: student mental health support. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

This time, we hear from Flora, President at City of Glasgow College - Students' Association. Flora is calling on the new Scottish Parliament to step up and ensure that students are not left waiting in times of need.

Flora's priority for the new government:
👉 Better monitoring of waiting times: Ensuring long waiting times for student counselling services are closely tracked and reduced.

Mental health support must be accessible when students need it most. What are your hopes for the new parliament?

Our Student Hopes for the Future series continues. This time, we hear from Christina, Student President at Aberdeen University Students' Union. Christina is calling on the new Scottish Parliament to address a broken funding model that harms both our institutions and our community.

The issue is systemic:
👉 The funding gap: A lack of sufficient public funding has left colleges and universities financially strained.
👉 The human cost: To survive, institutions have become overly reliant on international students, often subjecting them to sky-high, exploitative tuition fees to plug the financial deficit.

We need sustainable public investment so our universities do not have to rely on exploitative practices to stay afloat. What are your hopes for the new parliament?

We’re back with another entry of Student Hopes for the Future! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

This time, we’re hearing from Adam, President of Edinburgh College Students' Association. For Adam, the ultimate goal for the incoming Scottish Parliament comes down to progressive change and stronger representation. ✊

Adam is looking ahead and calling for:
👉 A meaningful shift toward a more progressive future for Scotland.
👉 A student body that becomes even more powerful and influential within the next government.

Real progress only happens when student voices are truly amplified and listened to.

We’re back with the second episode of our series, Student Hopes for the Future, highlighting what students across Scotland need from the new Scottish Parliament! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Next up, hear from Jon, President of Glasgow Kelvin College Student Association. For Jon, the priorities are clear: supporting the future of our healthcare workforce. 🩺🚑

Jon is calling for:
👉 An increase to the Paramedic, Nursing and Midwifery Student Bursary, which hasn't been raised in six years despite the rising cost of living.
👉 Fair pay for students completing gruelling 12-hour placements in hospitals and paramedic fields, especially when working unsociable hours.

Our student healthcare workers deserve real support. What are your hopes for the new parliament?

No support for student support? Really?

15% of college students are relying on food banks.
Over a third of full-time undergrads are skipping meals.
74% of university students and 64% of college students report low mental wellbeing.

This isn’t sustainable. It’s not just our education system that’s under pressure, students are breaking under it.

And yet, not a single party mentioned student support in their manifesto.

That’s not an oversight. That’s a failure.

We’re calling on every party and every leader: fix it. Students deserve better.
