We were glad to be able to drop by and show our support for striking workers at Glasgow Caledonian University yesterday.

Workers are striking to ensure that university management rule out compulsory redundancies. Strikes against job cuts like these not only protect liviehoods but also protect the future of students' education.

Today, NUS Scotland wrote to the First Minister ahead of the Programme for Government with one clear message: students can’t wait any longer. 📢

We’re calling on the Scottish Government to:
🎓 Fix student financial support so no one is priced out of education.
🤝 Tackle racism, xenophobia and inequality, ensuring every student feels welcome and safe.
🚌 Make public transport affordable, reliable and accessible for every student.

Students deserve a Scotland where they can learn, thrive and succeed without poverty, discrimination or transport barriers standing in their way. It’s time for leadership, ambition and action 💜

Our Student Hopes for the Future series continues!

This time, we hear from Cherene, Student President at Borders College Students' Association. Cherene is calling on the new Scottish Parliament to end the uncertainty caused by short-term funding cycles for essential student mental health initiatives.

Cherene’s priority for the new government is clear:
👉 Commit to secure, multi-year funding for vital mental health projects, such as the Think Positive project, to allow for real long-term planning.
