Less than a week to go until North East Scotland College starts back for our Plumbing Apprentices!

If you are an employer looking to secure an apprenticeship place, now is the time to act.

We’ve seen a significant increase in our apprentice intake across the region this year, which is fantastic to see and shows the continued demand for skilled people entering the plumbing and heating industry.

Vanessa still has places available at Tullos Training Ltd and Dundee and Angus College for September starts, as well as at UHI Perth for January 2027 starts.

RTO Julie Rankin recently visited Vincent Coyle, where she caught up with apprentices Bailey Guy and Daniel McCormick (not pictured), along with Bailey's tradesman Liam Hughes. Vincent Coyle currently supports the development of four apprentices.

Julie then visited Building Finishing Services, meeting second-year apprentice Aiden Kilcoyne and Senior Business Compliance Manager Martin Norman. The company is also helping to develop the next generation of skilled workers, employing two additional apprentices.

Great to see employers continuing to invest in apprenticeships and future talent across the industry. 👏

RTO Emma Lavery has been on the road in Dunoon, Tarbert and Lochgilphead, meeting with local employers to carry out Apprentice Performance Reviews and discuss recruitment for the 2026/27 intake.

SNIPEF RTO Julie Rankin has been out and about across Dumfries, meeting with local businesses and raising awareness of apprenticeships within the plumbing and heating industry.

📍 Graham Plumbers' Merchant
Julie met with William Gray, Manager at SNIPEF Affiliate Graham Plumbers' Merchants. William was delighted to support SNIPEF’s recruitment efforts and help encourage the next generation into the trade.

📍 Derek Mitchell Group Ltd
A visit to Derek Mitchell Group provided the opportunity to meet Group Manager Iain Currie and Office Manager Anneliese Elliot. As strong advocates of apprenticeships, the company has recruited 16 apprentices across three trades and is preparing to welcome a new first-year plumbing apprentice.

Julie also stopped by SNIPEF Affiliate City Plumbing Supplies - Dumfries, where Branch Manager Greg Wallace was more than happy to display SNIPEF recruitment posters and help highlight the vital role apprenticeships play in the future of our industry.

🚨 Apprenticeship places are filling up fast! 🚨

Employers looking to secure a training place for their plumbing and heating apprentice at UHI Perth, Dundee and Angus College, North East Scotland College (Aberdeen), or Tullos Training Ltd should act now.

Places are being allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and demand is high. To avoid disappointment and help ensure your apprentice can attend their preferred training location, contact RTO Vanessa Docherty as soon as possible.

RTO Julie Rankin visited DM Homeshield in Ayrshire to carry out an apprentice review.

During her visit, Julie met with apprentice Blair Mabon and Operations Manager Scott Baird to discuss Blair's progress. Blair, who attends Ayrshire College, is preparing to enter the third year of his apprenticeship and continues to develop his skills and industry experience.

It's great to see DM Homeshield investing in the future workforce, with the company set to welcome a new first-year apprentice. Their ongoing commitment to apprenticeships is helping to create valuable opportunities for the next generation of talent. 👏
