Scottish Gemmological Association The SGA - For people who have at least one thing in common, a love of gemstones and jewellery.

The SGA is open to all who have an interest in gemmology and who share the aims of the Association to promote interest in gems and the study of gemmology in Scotland. This is achieved by regular meetings, lectures, field-trips and our world-renowned annual conference which includes the presentation of awards for the "SGA Gem-Set Jewellery Design Competition".

Over the years, our GemSet competition has received many very interesting entries from talented students at Edinburgh College of Art. Recently it has been announced that ECA propose that the BA (Hons) Jewellery and Silversmithing programme, amongst others, will be discontinued.

If you happen to be in this area of London this weekend, Two Temple Place is well worth visiting, especially to see the the (semiprecious) gemstone inlaid floors.

Completed in 1895, Two Temple Place is a dazzling neo-Gothic gem on the Victoria Embankment, designed by gothic revivalist architect, John Loughborough Pearson, & commissioned by & built for William Waldorf Astor, as his estate office.
