Muirhouse Youth Development Group

Youth organisation Fundamental to MYDG is the building and maintaining of relationships with young people, as they grow up in Muirhouse.

What MYDG stands for is exactly what its initials signify – for Youth, for their Development, through being an ongoing, open, outwardly-facing Group, rooted in the community of Muirhouse and its adjacent areas of north Edinburgh. MYDG engages and involves young people, responding to what is said, needs expressed, or support sought, through the activities of the Group, and through the connections built between volunteers (Muirhouse young people too) with those younger than themselves, and with the backing of MYDG staff. At the heart of what MYDG stands for is an open door, a welcome, and a sense of belonging. The organisation is stable and can be relied upon, even over many years. It gives real participation to young people who come through its door.

😁🍂🌼🌟Huge thank you to students from Fettes College for coming along to Pilton Retreat and helping out by

clean up the leaves, weeding the raised beds, collecting fire wood and cleaning the porch and entrance.

We are very greatful to the vlounteers who give thier time to help at Pilton Retreat to make it a welcoming space for everyone who uses it.

We took some of our young people to the Knife Angel ceremony yesterday and it was a very impactful and moving day. Thank you to LIFT and Lisa for the important work they are doing. It's greatly appriceated by the whole community 💗

Wanted to let everyone know Don Bosco is off today. But all other clubs are running as normal this week 😃.

Few little changes to our programme with our s1+ Girls Group moving to a Monday but that is all.

We've got a professional barber popping into North Edinburgh Arts on Wednesday 1 July, 1-3pm, offering free short hair cuts for local residents living in North Edinburgh.
