This week we say a big thank you and fond farewell to Lorna as she steps down from our board of trustees as our Chair.

Lorna has performed the role of Chair for 3 years providing thoughtful support and encouragement to LifeCare, whilst keeping sight of good governance. She leaves LifeCare at a positive time with our new strategy in place and having recently celebrated our 85th Birthday.

Join us for our free Chi Gung classes for unpaid carers every Wednesday from 12.30pm at LifeCare.

Do you provide care and support to an adult family member, friend or a neighbour? An unpaid carer does not need to be living with the person they care for. Anybody can become a carer at any time in their life and sometimes for more than one person at a time.

We have a programme of free health and wellbeing activities for unpaid carers at The LifeCare Centre in Stockbridge. Join us to enjoy a new activity or get back to something you love. As part of our 85th celebrations, we put together a display filled with archive photographs of our past.

It included photos of the buy-a-brick campaign that helped build the LifeCare hub alongside original architectural drawings, the 3 royal visits from The Queen Mother, The Queen and Princess Anne, old photos of clients out on day trips and enjoying activities and more.

October 1st marks the International Day of Older Persons. As you may know, this September we have been celebrating 85 years of LifeCare, hosting a wonderful birthday celebration where many of our clients who we support were invited along.

Every day at LifeCare we tackle stigmas associated with growing older, provide holistic care and spend our day making yours whether through home help, providing hot meals, exciting activities, day trips, a simple conversation and so much more.

The Day of Older Persons theme this year is 'The Age of Longevity: Rethinking Systems for Longer Lives'. Last year alone, LifeCare supported 1,140 people to live well and stay independent. We are proud to be the vital support for so many individuals.

Happy Birthday LifeCare, and to 85 more years supporting those who need us now, and those who may need us in the future.
