Inverleith Petanque Club

21/09/2026

As many of you already know, Inverleith has qualified as the top Scottish club and are preparing to travel to Douai, France at the start of November to represent Inverleith (and Scotland) at the European cup for clubs.

This is a great honour for the club and team members who are excited to don their kit and do their best against the rest of Europe's best!

Attending these events comes at a great cost and whilst it's an incredible privilege to wear your country and clubs kit, the team are fundraising to cover some expenses for the event. If you would like to contribute you can do so on this link https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/ipceurocup2026?utm_medium=CA&utm_source=WA&utm_campaign=LFCCC_Published

Thank you for reading and for your support and I'm sure you'll join me in wishing the team all the very best in France!

Inverleith Petanque Club are proud to be representing Scotland at the European Cup for Clubs in November 2026, in Sin-le-Noble, France. The trip is self funded so donations would be very much appreciated to help cover travel and accommodation.

Club triples champions!

We began the club triples league back in July with teams playing against each other in a knock out.

Last night was the final.

Craig Ian and Mattie versus Gordon Martin and Donald.

It was a long an intense match which finished in the dark. One big end for Ian Craig and Mattie tipped the balance of a close match and so victory was Ian Craig and matties.

Well done to our eventual winners and well done to Gordon Martin and Donald for second place.

We are very proud of our member, Ann! Good luck in Greece to the whole team 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿MEET THE TEAM | ANN ROWAN 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
Meet Ann Rowan, who will be part of the team representing Scotland at the European Championships in Loutraki, Greece, this October! 🇬🇷🏆

We asked Ann about her pétanque journey, representing Scotland and what the sport has given her along the way.
🎯 What inspired you to start playing pétanque?
After moving to a new area, Ann spotted an advert for a new pétanque club opening in Dunbar. Having come across pétanque on holiday and always fancied giving it a go, she thought, “Why not?” She picked up a boule… and the rest is history!
🏴 Did you ever imagine you'd represent Scotland?
“Surely it’s the end goal that we all dream of!” Ann has always wanted to improve, challenge herself and be the best she can be. To have the opportunity to represent her country is, she says, an incredible feeling.
💪 What has pétanque given you?
“Belief in myself.” Ann says pétanque has taught her that time, effort and commitment bring rewards — and that you’re never too old to challenge yourself, learn something new and achieve things you never imagined.
👩 What would you say to women thinking about trying pétanque?
“Go for it!” Ann describes pétanque as sociable, inclusive and international, encouraging everyone to find their nearest club, give it a go, meet people and have a laugh. And before you know it, you’ll be completely bouled over! 😂
🎯 Pre-match ritual?
A little time to herself to get her thoughts together and focus. “I’m not being unsociable — I’m just trying to get my head in the right place!”
⭐ Dream opponent?
Having already played in a triple against Mouna Benji, Ann would love the chance to play another end against her, this time tête-à-tête. She describes Mouna as incredibly talented, inspirational and great fun — exactly the kind of player she’d love to share the piste with again.
We can’t wait to see Ann and the rest of the Scottish team take on Europe in Loutraki this October! 🇽🇸🎯
Good luck, Ann! 👏

Ach we are fond of our wee open. Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for a great day of petanque and to our committee and club members who made the day run so smoothly.

You maybe have seen the results on challonge yesterday and how close it finished up with the top teams all on 4 wins!! However in the end, jeu de lancer retained their win from last year (whilst doing the majority of organizing!!). Les cremantes finished second and Les verts third.

Thanks for coming along to our open and we look forward to seeing you all again soon.
