We’re The MacLean Brothers and for the next 120 days or so, we’ll be rowing across the Pacific Ocean — facing sharks, marlins, 30ft waves, and extreme exhaustion. But why?

We’re doing it to raise £1 million to provide clean, safe water for life to communities in Madagascar — one of the countries most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.

We’ve seen the difference clean water can make. Now we want to make that impact even bigger.

Follow our journey. Support the cause. Help us change lives.

Did you know that Madagascar has the highest levels of top-soil loss in the world?!

What’s the key reason for this? Deforestation.

With a water-source, tree-nurseries can be watered. The trees can then be planted nearby to restore the forest, prevents top-soil loss, increasing ground fertility and biodiversity.

What’s more? The root networks prevent water run-off, which stops the ground water levels dropping.

Donating today could help provide clean water to those who most need it, allowing them to thrive well into the future.

Clean water = happy school kids!

👋 to Amati Global Investors from some kids in the village of Antenitibe! Thanks to you, their school now has a clean water source.

The borehole serves two schools as well as the nearby village.

This project showcases the catalytic effect of clean water on children’s education. Kids that aren’t sick due to waterborne diseases can focus on being at school.

It seems there is always a never-ending list of to dos in life. Thankfully for most, collecting and boiling water isn’t on that list.

Many of us take water for granted. Whether it’s drinking, brushing teeth, making coffee or doing the washing up, we use water each and every day – but don’t even recognise it. It’s so familiar – an expected baseline – that we don’t for a moment consider how lucky we are to have it.

But did you know that roughly 10% of the world’s population don’t have access to safe, potable water. Each day, their to do list starts with sourcing water – often from a far way source – then boiling it so it’s more safe to drink.

You can help change that. The Maclean Foundation works with communities in Madagascar to build and maintain boreholes, giving communities access to water for life.
