***Apparently the road is open from Brogaig to the Quiraing car park but closed from the Uig side. It means you can drive up, admire the wind and rain but no view because of the weather, then turn round and drive back to Brogaig. Weather permitting, repairs may be carried out on Monday.

Update 12pm Saturday 8 August 2026:

➡️ The Quiraing C1225 road has partially reopened.

➡️ The Brogaig A855 to Quiraing (View Point) Car Park approach is now open to traffic.

➡️ The length of road that extends from the Quiraing View Point to the Idriigill A855 junction will remain closed to all traffic until Monday afternoon because of the adverse impact of rainfall on today’s road repairs.

Posted 6.30pm on Friday 7 August 2026:

Road Closure - C1225 Quiraing (Brogaig to Idrigill) road is being closed to all traffic currently following widespread flooding today. Emergency road repairs will follow tomorrow. The road is expected to reopen tomorrow pm.

Due to restricted road widths through sections of these works, we have no option but to close the carriageway to ensure the safety
of the workforce and members of the travelling public. The A87 will therefore be closed in both directions from 7pm to 5am. During periods of closure, amnesties at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm,12pm, 2am and 4am will allow waiting vehicles to be es**rted through the site.Emergency service vehicles will be allowed to pass through the site throughout the working period. Public buses will be allowed through upon confirmation of timetable.
A87 South of Skye Bridge will utilise Lane closure with 2-way TTL due to suitable road widths.
Access to properties and junctions within the closure will be maintained with the amnesty provided times. Egress from properties and junctions within the closure will be maintained under es**rt whenever safe to allow.
Out with these hours traffic management will be removed, however, a reduced speed limit will remain in place as traffic will be
travelling over a temporary surface.
We understand that works of this nature will be disruptive and have planned the works consecutively to reduce the impact of the
works. BEAR Scotland and Transport Scotland wish to thank the local communities in advance for their patience during these
essential works.
Should you require further information, or wish to discuss these proposals, please do not hesitate to contact us by e-mail at
[email protected].
Yours faithfully,
John Morris
Assistant Planned Maintenance Manager (West)
For and on behalf of BEAR Scotland
