⛔ A855 , Isle of Skye. Update⌚️ 12 noon - 7 October 2026

🚧 Repair works at Idrigill Bends are now nearing completion.

Our teams are currently finalising the stabilisation and drainage works to ensure the road can be safely reopened.

We will provide a further update this afternoon.

A diversion remains in place via the A87 and A855 Staffin Road.

Latest update from the Highland Council.

Update: ⌚️ 4.30pm - 5 October 2026
⛔ The A855 remains closed at Idrigill bend, Uig, Isle of Skye, following a landslide on Friday evening.
Remedial works are progressing well but, for now, controlled access will only be available for school teachers and pupils, as well as for emergency/blue light vehicles.
Our Traffic Management team are on site to manage access and ensure movements can be made safely.
Further updates will be provided as the work progresses and when we are in a position to confirm arrangements for reopening the road.
A diversion is in place via the A87 and A855 Staffin Road.
While the Quiraing C1225 is open as a temporary alternative route for road users, this road requires significant improvement works and is not suitable for a high volume of traffic.
We encourage road users, particularly those travelling in larger vehicles, to use the A855, wherever possible. See less

The guys are on it, first load of rock just been unloaded, they are stabilising the bank first, then there's a possibility of traffic lights going in, but they will update on that soon

LATEST UPDATE FROM THE COUNCIL

A855 Idrigill Bend – Road Closure Update

Following an inspection this morning, the decision has been made to keep the A855 at Idrigill Bend closed over the weekend.

Our teams are continuing work at the site, including removing slipped material from the Idrigill township road and carrying out a detailed survey of the affected area. This will allow us to fully assess the damage and develop a design for the necessary repair works.

The A855 will remain closed at Idrigill Bend throughout the weekend. We appreciate the disruption this will cause and thank road users and the local community for their patience and understanding.

A further update will be provided on Monday once we have more information on the required repairs and next steps.
