This year is extra special as we celebrate 10 years of Biomedical Science Day—a decade of recognising the incredible contribution biomedical scientists make at the heart of healthcare.

To mark this milestone, we’re excited to launch our “Beat the Clock” challenge ⏱️—an interactive activity designed to bring biomedical science careers to life for young people across Scotland.

👩‍🔬👨‍🔬 Calling all teachers and schools…

Join us in inspiring the next generation of healthcare scientists by taking part in this fun, classroom-based challenge.

Using the Super Samples game, learners step into the role of an NHS laboratory team—working together to:

✅ Follow patient samples through the lab
✅ Make decisions under time pressure
✅ Apply science skills to real-world problems
✅ Experience how teamwork supports patient care

There’s no pass or fail—just curiosity, collaboration and a chance to see how science can lead to meaningful NHS careers.
