For all young parents our 6VT Terrace Tots is back to normal after their summer outings have come to an end.

We understand that family life has its ups and downs. Our parent and baby support group offers a relaxed space where you can take a break from daily routines, meet others, and enjoy some time out with your children.

A great opportunity for those not ready to enter a full apprenticeship right now. A rare opportunity to do a "pre-apprenticeship" with the Grassmarket Community Project in one of their social enterprises.

The includes:
16 hours a week paid at £8.50 (above the National Minimum Wage for apprentices)

Work as a Kitchen Assistant, Café Server, or Woodwork Assistant in one of our social enterprises

Opportunity to develop your skills, confidence, and work experience in a relaxed, supportive environment at your own pace and suited to your ability.

Complete industry recognised training such as Health & Safety, Food Handling & Hygiene, COSHH, etc.

Receive 1 to 1 mentoring, workplace and employability support, and regular feedback

Complete a learning portfolio designed to support you with your next steps

Tonight at the Vennel, Youth Board held on the deck .
Popped out to see the eclipse - a few pics below.

Next eclipse is due when our youngest members will be in their 70’s.
We asked them to imagine what is they will have achieved in life by then., made for some interesting chat.

We did tell them not to look directly at eclipse or photograph it , but that worked as well as a do not touch wet paint signs !

Auf Wiedersehen Eva

This Friday night we will be saying goodbye to our wonderful youth worker, Eva, as she returns home to Germany to begin an exciting new chapter.

Eva first came to 6VT in 2016 as a social work student on a six month placement. She returned to Edinburgh in 2020 and has since become a much loved member of our team, working at our Drop In and with our Hospital Youth Work Team in the Emergency Departments at the Hospitals.

Her warmth, kindness, reliability, energy and sense of fun have made a lasting difference to so many young people and colleagues. We are incredibly grateful for everything she has brought to 6VT over the years.

We wish Eva every success and happiness for the future.

Thank you for everything Eva. You will always be part of the 6VT family.

You may have seen John McNabs mum Lisa on the news today. John who tragically & sadly lost his life from a stabbing attack in Edinburgh, his mum Lisa Petrie has ben campaigning for bleed kits to be more available across Scotland .

UPDATE - PLEASED TO SAY 6VT'S CHALLENGING LETTER TO THIS COMPANY RESULTED IN THEM WITHDRAWING ALL DEMANDS FOR CASH.

The young person can now go and access their trust for free.

CHILD TRUST FUND Born between 1 September 2002 & 2 January 2011?
We got a call today from another charity seeking advice on behalf of a vulnerable young person who clicked an advert to find their child trust fund and is now sitting with a bill from this company £420 and threats of debt recovery!

Please if you are in this age group or work with folks in this age group / parent or carer make them aware they can access their fund for FREE by using the Government website https://www.gov.uk/child-trust-funds

Enraged this could happen 6VT have written this particular company a letter challenging their (what feels like) immoral practice!

If you need help to access your money asks your youth worker or other trusted adult
