Really delighted to welcome four new trustees to SIET's board. It's a particular pleasure that two of our new board members were themselves grantees, which adds a particularly welcome perspective. All four bring deep professional experience in grant-making, fundraising, network building, development, and governance. While we will miss the advice and guidance of those trustees who are retiring, SIET's future looks to be in good hands!

SIET has added four new trustees to our board, and wished a fond farewell to three longstanding board members. At its meeting in early December, the Trust's board officially welcomed its new members, Kelly Finnan, David Mungall and former SIET award recipients, Alistair Sommerville and Jenny Thornto...

Evan Rush's story is typical of the extraordinary young people SIET is able to support but no less remarkable for that. Originally from a small town in the west of Scotland, he secured a place at the University of Glasgow to study law, using what he describes as 'a widening access route'. After successfully completing his degree, he applied for an LLM in International Law at New York University.
SIET was able to help him with the cost of the course and living in the Big Apple.

His description of the experience supported by SIET: "By far the most educational and formative year to date".

*** Join SIET's Board ***
The Scottish International Education Trust is seeking to appoint four new trustees at an exciting time in the charity’s history.

The trust has been helping remarkable young Scots fulfil their potential for over half a century. Trustees recently committed to an extensive programme of fundraising to ensure we continue to fulfil our mission for many years to come. We are looking for new trustees whose energy, insights and commitment to the transformative power of international education can help us build for the next fifty years.
We are particularly keen to receive applications from former recipients of our awards, those who can help the board more accurately reflect the communities it seeks to serve, and those who have particular insights in fundraising, charitable governance, relations with the Scottish diaspora, or student mobility and widening access in higher education.

For further information and to download the job description please visit our website. Please note, applications should be submitted by 11.59pm on 21 September 2025
