King's College Hospital have held a major celebratory event, to mark 60 years of their liver service, established in 1966 by the late Prof. Roger Williams. Over 230 delegates attended the Fetal Medicine Research Institute on Denmark Hill, London, to hear a large number of speakers looking at the history, the present service, and the future.

Our Chairman, Jim Kilpatrick, was invited to represent the Support Group, and to speak on behalf of patients in general, at the two day event, alongside Monica Walsh from the Listen patient support group in King's. Other speakers included Prof. Michael Heneghan, Prof. Nigel Heaton, and Prof. John O'Grady (who received a standing ovation).

A reception was held at Dulwich Picture Gallery on the first evening, which gave everyone an opportunity to mingle and chat.

It was a privilege for Jim to relate his personal liver journey, and his work with the Support Group, but also for he and Monica to represent the roughly 6,400 people transplanted by the King's liver team over those 60 years.

What a busy Sunday our committee have had!

Jane attended the Oonah McCreanor Memorial Feis organised by the Belfast Regional Branch who very kindly donated £2500.

Meanwhile - Kay, Sharon and Sandra met up with members in Derry/Londonderry for another successful Walk and Talk event. What a beautiful day to get the steps in!
