Home-Start - what we do

We support families with preschool children who need a wee bit of extra help; the support could be emotional or practical depending on the need. We recruit volunteers who all have parenting experience to visit the family homes usually once a week. Parents may need support to help cope with for example: disabilities, loneliness, isolation, depression, loss of confidence, multiple births or who are just finding life as a parent a bit of a struggle.

Our volunteers are ordinary people who want to share their parenting experience to help other ordinary parents - they know only too well how parenting can be overwhelming at times, particularly when children are very small.
