Very sorry to hear the news that the Cohannon Inn is closing its doors.

I've been there many times over the years, whether for family dinners, wedding morning breakfasts, lunch meetings or just a bite to eat, and I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal or a bad experience.

My thoughts are particularly with the staff who now face an uncertain future, especially with Christmas just around the corner. It's a worrying time for them and their families, and I sincerely hope they can find new employment as soon as possible.

If any members of staff affected by the closure need advice, assistance or support, please don't hesitate to contact me. I'll do whatever I can to help.

A sad day for local hospitality. Thanks to all the staff, past and present, for the great service and warm welcome over the years.

👨🏼‍🦳👩🏼‍🦳🧔🏼‍♂️Living Memories Project🍏🛶🏡
**Our flyers are printed and ready to share in the community!**

We want to reach as far as we can and uncover the untold stories of rural South Lough Neagh, full of the laughter, loss and resilience of life, to instil a sense of wonder and bring questions to fruition as life journeys are portrayed with honesty and heart.

The South Lough Neagh Regeneration Association Living Memories project will capture the fading heritage of South Lough Neagh's communities - recording people's memories & stories before they are lost, with a host of events & workshops along the way!

Alongside the 2025 documentary, also showing the 1967 UTV drama ‘Boatman, Do Not Tarry’ - 59 years to the day since its original airing.

Shot on location at the Bannfoot ferry and featuring 26 Maghery men at the Lough Neagh Hotel (just metres away from the venue), ‘Boatman’ was a milestone for Ulster Television but has been unseen for decades.

With special guests sharing memories and archive films, we’ll discuss the legacy of the Bannfoot ferry and ‘Boatman’, and celebrate the loughshore’s unique place in local broadcasting history.

In association with South Lough Neagh Historical Society and Northern Ireland Screen’s Digital Film Archive.
