Good evening. We just want to reassure current and prospective parents and students that our students will not lose access to any animals. The hopefully temporary location for them is a short mini bus journey away. The goats, pigs, cows and small animals will remain on the main Woodpecker site for all to enjoy on the route around into the woods. We hope to find some land to return the other animals to the villages so the community can continue to enjoy them. Thank you for all your support.

HELP US FIND LAND FOR A COMMUNITY FARM!

We are looking for a local piece of land to help create a community farm for Woodpecker Court, a specialist post-16 college supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Our vision is to provide a safe, inclusive and hands-on environment where students can gain valuable practical skills, build confidence, develop independence and work towards recognised courses and qualifications in Animal Care.

A community farm would give our students the opportunity to learn through real-life experiences, care for animals, understand responsibility, develop teamwork and prepare for future employment and adult life. It would also give local people a facility that they can visit while out on a walk or with their children.

We are looking for local land that could be used to develop this facility and help our students access opportunities that may otherwise be difficult for them to experience.

If you are a landowner, farmer, local business, community organisation or someone who knows of a suitable piece of land that may be available to rent, lease, donate or develop in partnership with us, we would love to hear from you.

Every share could help us reach the right person and make a real difference to our students’ futures.

Please message us directly if you can help or know someone who might be able to, or email [email protected].

Together, we can create a valuable resource for our students and the wider community.

Please share this post to help spread the word!

A huge thank you to Collin Varrel and Anna from Lost Voices for giving our students the incredible opportunity to learn about the history of Kitchener Camp, the refugees it helped to save, and how they went on to integrate into society.
The session was both educational and inspiring, helping bring an important part of history to life for our students.
We would also like to extend a big thank you to Sandwich Discovery Centre for welcoming us and providing such a fantastic space for this valuable learning experience.
