🔴🔵⚪️ Happy 40th Birthday Network South East!

Did you know, the first passenger train we ran when we opened in 1995 was a class 108 DMU wearing this iconic Livery? (See photo: credit to Tim Rogers

🔴40 years ago Network South East was introduced as a massive rebranding of British Rail in the South East. Network South East disappeared from our rails in the mid 00s when the railways went unter privatisation. Although there were many trains running around the South East in the NSE colours.

🔵 Trains and stations were adorned with the striking new blue, red and grey colour scheme that became iconic over the 90s into the early 00s. Shepherdswell Main line station was no exception.

⚪️Today we have preserved examples of this branding on our railway and the legacy of NSE continues to this day.

We were absolutely delighted to welcome the Sutton Coldfield Railway Society on a private charter service before our standard public service on Sunday 7th June.

It was an early start for our amazing volunteers to give them a warm EKR welcome and our guard gave a well reviced commentary and history of the line. After their journey they set off towards Chatham Dock Yard to enjoy the rest of their trip.

🎉Its National Volunteer Week🎉

A huge shout out to all our amazing volunteers who work so hard into keeping our railway working.

Engeering, Rolling stock restoration, Grounds keeping, administrative, Events planning and organising, train presentation, retail to name just a few areas that our volunteers work tirelessly in.

We would always be greatful if your help so if you can spare some time get involved. Alternatively just coming for a train ride and enjoying what our beautiful site has to offer is also a great way to support us.
