Modeller Dom Pound, who created the superbly detailed 1/24 scale model of Wing Commander Geoffrey Page’s No. 56 Squadron Hurricane unveiled at last year’s Memorial Day, is continuing his ambitious project of remembrance ✈️
Dom is creating more than 100 hyper-realistic models that will be displayed in museums and memorials across the country in memory of those who took part in the Battle of Britain.
He has now created a second piece for the Battle of Britain Memorial, a Ju 87 Stuka. The aircraft was crewed by Uffz V. Schroder and Gefr H. Lipsius of 6./StG 1 and was shot down on 25 July 1940 by pilots of No. 56 Squadron, including Geoffrey Page.
This latest model represents the 42nd dedication in Dom’s 1940 Project of Remembrance and is the first Ju 87 to go on public display. The project has now expanded to commemorate 820 aircrew across 60 museums and collections.
Here is Dom’s latest creation, which will be delivered to the Memorial later this summer.
