The Alkham Valley Community Project

The Alkham Valley Community Project Not for Profit therapeutic riding and mainstream riding school based in beautiful East Kent countryside.

Lessons throughout the week as well as shows, events and clinics. The AVCP is a charity dedicated to providing disabled and disadvantaged adults and children a way to connect with countryside. Through therapeutic Carriage Driving, Horse Riding and Horticulture we can offer new opportunities to meet new people, interact with animals and aim to promote health and well being. We wish to give people a

different kind of experience perhaps not available beforehand, and most importantly to enjoy themselves. We aim to promote good community participation whilst they enjoy their time with us and hope to teach them new skills related to Carriage Driving, Sports Driving, Horse Riding and Horticulture. The Charity provides an excellent service with well trained staff. We regularly organise events and activities for everyone to join in with, including our "Saddle Club" which allows children to come up, socialise and work alongside the horses. If you would like any more information about our charity, please visit the website link below.

โ˜€๏ธโ˜€๏ธCLOTHING REMINDERโ˜€๏ธโ˜€๏ธ

We know itโ€™s INCREDIBLY hot at the moment but please remember that riders must wear full length trousers and sturdy enclosed footwear. We cannot allow anyone to ride in shorts or sandals/crocs.

If you are accompanying a rider, please be aware that we are a busy working yard. As well as the machinery and uneven ground, you are likely to be in close proximity to half a tonne of prey animal with iron shoes on - weโ€™d strongly advise that any parents, carers and spectators wear proper footwear too!

๐Ÿš—๐Ÿš—TRAFFIC WARNING๐Ÿš—๐Ÿš—

If you are coming to us over the Bank Holiday weekend, please bear in mind that with Operation Brock in place you may wish to leave extra time to get to us.

Bitter experience tells us that not only do the main roads from both Folkestone and Dover get very heavy, but traffic also increases on the lanes around us!

In addition, our local farmers are currently cutting silage so there are lots of tractors and trailers moving around.

Be safe and we look forward to seeing you!
