I've known and worked with Daisy Fancourt (Professor of Psychobiology and Epidemiology at University College London), for years, and she has just published a book called 'Art Cure'.
Amongst other things she demonstrates just how good 'art' is for our mental AND physical health. Engaging regularly with the arts actually lowers our risk of dying (even taking into account the many socioeconomic, demographic and health variables) for years afterwards.
Visiting museums and attending live music events reduces our physiological (compared to chronological) age, and a monthly cultural activity almost halves our chances of depression.
If a drug could do this, we'd be investing billions in it.
