Happy Halloween 🎃

Tonight I am doing a real rarity at Shepherdswell, manning the Level Crossing in the dark.

Something we only do on the last Santa Specials of the day towards the end of December.

This is the first Halloween Special that the East Kent Railway have done since 2016, and tonight is sold out.

Big pat on the back to my friends at Class 507 Preservation Society on achieving this astonishing mile stone for EMU Preservation.

Can't wait to see what beholds this unit with it's new "pacemaker" 😉.

This weekend we have been down at the 1:1 Collection at Hornby Wonder Works in Margate, exhibiting "Car One" (12796) 4-SUB 4732 , which has not too recently returned from restoration work at Rampart Engineering at Barrow Hill.

Mainly repairs to the bodywork and a repaint into BR Blue (late version).

The interior will be done by ourselves over the next year, and hopefully won't be too long before we can send the next vehicle off to Derbyshire, so if you wish to see this happen then contact the 4-SUB Association via their page 4-SUB Unit 4732.

Visitors had the opportunity to visit the Drivers Cab and the Guard's Van, which proved very popular.

It was good to speak with people who had either travelled or worked on the SUBs and similar stock.

Spreading the word of this fundraiser appeal for the Southern Electric Group 4COR 3142 which badly needs restoring to its former glory.

The coach needs to be sent away for professional work, as being 1930s built, it is a good majority of crafted woodwork which needs the attention of the skilled people.

So please help the SEG restore this 90 year old lady back to her former glory.....

Last weekend, I visited our friends at The Southern Electric Traction Group C.I.C as their Class 423 4-VEP, number 3417 'Gordon Pettit', was present at The Watercress Line Diesel Gala. One end of the train was marked with its original number, 7717.

So nice to see the unit doing what it was built for, and some trains were as busy as it would have been on the morning commute into Waterloo.

4-SUB Unit 4732 will be on display including the recently cosmetically restored Car One.

The Southern Electric Group's 1938 4-COR 3135 was pressed into service with 73130 on Bank-Holiday Monday due to the warm weather affecting the GatEx set.

This Driver Motor Brake Standard Coach is a 1st Generation 3rd EMU built for the electrification of the London Waterloo to Portsmouth line and was the first Class of EMU to have a corridor connection at either end of the train.

They were also nicknamed "Nelson" due to the fact they served the Naval Town and because of there being only one cab window.

Hopefully will see it out again this Summer....

Breif return to Shepherdswell this afternoon to give a hand on refurbishing some window frames on CIG DTCL 76747 with 400 Series Preservation Group.

This one and 76762 are both coming along slowly but well.
