🏆💜WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS! 💜🏆

And champions they certainly are! Not even the wind and rain could dampen their determination or their Rotary spirit! 🌧️💪

On Saturday, 23 determined Rotarians from across the South East braved the elements to take on the iconic Alexandra Palace (Ally Pally) climb in London, marking World Polio Day! 🌍

Amongst them were members of our own Rotary Club of Dover, including our Club President Robin Dodridge, alongside Jerry Cooke from Folkestone Rotary Club.

And a very special mention must go to our very own Don Soppitt, who at 88 years young was the oldest climber taking part! 💜👏

What an inspiration, Don! A wonderful reminder that age is no barrier to making a difference, and a shining example of what determination, community spirit and the heart of Rotary can achieve!

But this wasn’t just about reaching the top!

Every step helped raise awareness and vital funds for Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign, bringing us closer to a world where no child has to suffer from polio again.

💜 And did you know?

Through Rotary’s partnership with the Gates Foundation, eligible donations towards polio eradication are matched 2 to 1, meaning every £1 can become £3 towards the fight to end polio!

A huge well done to all 23 Rotarians who took part. What a wonderful example of fellowship, determination and Rotary clubs coming together for a cause that reaches far beyond our own communities.

Champions in every sense of the word! Together, we really are this close to ending polio! 🌍💜

💙💛 Rotary District Conference 2026 | BTS Part 2 – The Finale! 😂🪩

Well, we couldn’t leave you without sharing the rest of our Eastbourne adventures!

One final collection of wonderful moments, plenty of laughter, a little mischief and the friendships that make being part of Rotary so special.

Because whilst the work we do within our communities is at the heart of Rotary, it’s the people we meet and the friendships we make along the way that make the journey so enjoyable.

And if this weekend proved anything, it’s that the Rotary Club of Dover certainly knows how to have a good time! 😂

So here’s to the memories made, the friendships strengthened and the many more adventures still to come!

💙💛 Rotary District Conference 2026 | Behind the Scenes Part 1! 🪩😂

You’ve seen the conference, heard about the inspirational speakers and the incredible work Rotary does… now for what happens behind the scenes!

Because Rotary isn’t just about fundraising, meetings and community projects. It’s also about the friendships, laughter and fellowship that bring us together.

And judging by this weekend in Eastbourne, the Rotary Club of Dover certainly knows how to let its hair down! 😂

We work hard, we play hard, and apparently, despite what the Scissor Sisters might say, we DO feel like dancing! 🪩😂

So many wonderful moments to share, we couldn’t possibly squeeze them all into one reel!

💙💛 Rotary District Conference 2026 | Eastbourne

This weekend the Rotary Club of Dover joined fellow Rotarians from across our district for our annual District Conference.

But what exactly happens at a Rotary Conference?

It’s an opportunity to come together, listen to inspirational speakers, celebrate the incredible work being carried out locally and internationally, exchange ideas and learn how we can continue making a difference in our communities.

And something we feel is particularly important to highlight…

The charitable funds we raise are NOT used to pay for conferences, accommodation or social activities. These costs are paid for by our members personally. All funds raised are donated 100% to our charitable causes.

The conference reminds us why we do what we do, the difference we can make and the extraordinary things that happen when people come together with a shared purpose.

We return to Dover inspired, informed and full of ideas!

And of course, there’s another side to Rotary conferences too… but we’ll save that for our next reel! 😂

We’re collecting in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Trust at Morrisons today. CF is a life-limiting genetic disorder that affects the lungs and digestive system of 11,000 children and young adults in Britain including my daughter. Thank you to Morrisons customers, friends and family for your support and especially our volunteer collectors. Thank you Phil Medgett for the photo and also for being one of our regular collectors.

🇬🇧 🇫🇷 🇩🇪 Tripartite Weekend… BTS!

One final reel, because some of the best moments happen behind the scenes!

Our Tripartite weekend is about so much more than the places we visit. It’s about the friendships, the connections and the fellowship that brings us together across countries, clubs and communities.

We work hard, we get stuck in, but we also know how to play hard! There was plenty of laughter, a little silliness, good food, raised glasses and those wonderfully unplanned moments that make weekends like this so memorable 🥂😂

Rotary connects people, and this weekend was a rather lovely reminder of just how special those connections can be.

🇬🇧 🇫🇷 🇩🇪 Tripartite Weekend… Day Two!

Day Two took us from Ghent to Ypres, where we visited the Menin Gate and spent time exploring the beautiful churches, cafés and atmosphere of this historic city.

From there we travelled on to Calais to meet Frédéric, President of the Rotary Club of Calais, and lend a hand with a litter pick in a local park as part of their environmental project and to mark World Cleanup Day 🌍💚

A lovely reminder of what Rotary is all about. Friendship across borders, fellowship, community and getting stuck in together.

And on the journey home, there was just enough time to raise a glass to a brilliant weekend and to the friendship and love of Rotary that brings us all together 🥂❤️

🇬🇧 🇫🇷 🇩🇪 Tripartite Weekend… Day One!

Members of the Rotary Club of Dover recently travelled to beautiful Ghent, joining our sister Rotary clubs of Saint Omer and Aachen.

Day one gave us the chance to reconnect with old friends, make new ones and enjoy the friendship and fellowship that has grown between our three clubs over the years.

There’s something rather special about friendships that cross borders, languages and countries, all brought together through Rotary ❤️

And this was only Day One… more to follow! 🇧🇪
