Dover Athletic U13 vs Ramsgate U12 JPL

Our second pre-season friendly, and nearly a month since our first, was always going to be a tough test against Milly’s Saturday JPL side — a challenge I was really looking forward to.

With us playing 35-minute halves this season, we decided to play three 25-minute periods today to give the girls plenty of game time while managing the heat and workload.

I felt today was a bit of a mixed bag, which was frustrating as I know we are capable of much better. We tried playing with a back four today, which should have given us more numbers in the centre of midfield, but positionally we weren’t quite where we needed to be. At times we gave possession away too cheaply and looked a little off the pace.

There were, however, some good moments. Our passing was good in spells, we looked dangerous on the counter-attack and Cassy took her goal really well. ⚽️

Overall, today was a really useful test and highlighted that we still have plenty to work on before the season starts — which is exactly what pre-season is about.

🏆 Managers’ Player of the Match – Faith

Well done to Faith, who gave 110% throughout and did really well in every position I asked her to play. A great attitude and work rate. 👏

🏆 Opposition Player of the Match – Ilaria

Well done to Ilaria, who put in a tireless performance in midfield and worked incredibly hard throughout the game. 👏

A big thank you to James for running the line today and for the great support from the sidelines.

⚽️ Goals & Assists

Cassy ⚽️
Assist – TBC

Plenty to take away from today and plenty to work on, but that’s what pre-season is all about. ⚽️

Match Report: U15 Girls Friendly vs Ramsgate

Another solid pre-season runout today, getting more miles in the legs and welcoming back Emmie, Mia B, and Evie from their holidays. With a mix-and-match squad across the park and several players adapting brilliantly to new positions, the girls produced long spells of excellent football and showed the solid foundations we are building for the upcoming season.

Highlights of the match included two fantastic goals, a great header from Lara and a clinical strike from the returning Emmie, alongside superb saves from all three of our goalkeepers: Evie, Emily S, and Dulcie. A special mention goes to captain Eva W, who led by example and was immense stepping back into defence.

Another positive step forward as we continue to fine-tune our game ahead of our final pre-season friendly this Thursday. Well done, girls! 👏

BUILDING A STRONGER PATHWAY FROM GRASSROOTS TO FIRST TEAM ⚫⚪

This evening, a selection of our Dover Athletic youth coaches took part in a fantastic CPD session delivered by Men’s First Team Coach & Analyst, Laurence Ball.

The session focused on aligning our coaching philosophies across all age groups, giving our youth coaches direct access to the tactical insights, modern analysis, and standards used at the senior level.

At Dover Athletic, we are committed to operating as One Club. By tapping into the skills, expertise, and experience of our first team staff, we can provide the best possible development environment for our young players and coaches alike.

Tonight's workshop is just the start. We have plenty more collaborative sessions and coach education opportunities planned as we continue to invest in the future of the club.

A huge thank you to Laurence for leading such an insightful session this evening, and to all our youth coaches for their ongoing dedication.

U15 Girls | Internal Friendly Match Report

A fantastic run-out for the U15 Girls at Times this evening, full of high work rate and top-quality football.

The goals flew in, featuring a neat finish from Arabella, Shelby powering forward to grab her first for the club, and an absolute top-corner worldie from Lara. A warm welcome back to Willow, who slotted straight back in, and massive praise to Rosie for a tireless performance making her debut.

Eyes turn to our upcoming friendlies next week against Ramsgate on Monday and Whitstable on Thursday as we move towards the start of the league action!

Internal Pre-Season Friendly | Dover Athletic Youth Section

This afternoon at the Duke of York’s School, our mixed U15 Girls team, featuring players from both squads, faced a mixed U13 Boys side made up of Kent Youth and Faversham League players, coached by Jake Leberl and Matt Cummings, in a fantastic pre-season friendly.

The boys proved to be a very strong team, playing scintillating football throughout the match and scoring some excellent goals to run out deserved winners.

For the girls, their work ethic, determination and never-give-up attitude were outstanding from start to finish. They continually looked to play positive, front-foot football and were rewarded with a fantastic goal, which was thoroughly deserved for their efforts.

Overall, this was an excellent advert for the Dover Athletic Youth Section, with two talented teams and sets of coaches creating a positive, supportive and inclusive environment. The game was played in the right spirit throughout and delivered a great match between two excellent teams.

A huge thank you to all the players, coaches and supporters involved.
