DOVER ATHLETIC GIRLS U11 BLACK - MATCH REPORT

Birthdays, football and cake... what more could you ask for? 🎂⚽
Today's football was all smiles from the first whistle to the last. The girls battled brilliantly, created space, and played with real determination throughout. From the moment they arrived, there was a clear focus during the warm-up, and that concentration carried into an excellent performance on the pitch.

The Blacks showed today that all their hard work in training, especially with the poor weather we've had recently, is really paying off. From maintaining their shape and understanding their positions, to constantly looking up and finding the next pass, the girls demonstrated everything we've been working on. As coaches, it is an absolute pleasure to work with such a fantastic group of players.

There was also a special celebration today as Scarlett marked her 10th birthday, bringing cake to share with her teammates and the opposition after the game. A lovely gesture that helped make the day even more special. 🎉🎂

A big well done to Kloe, who was awarded the opposition's Player of the Match. Another outstanding performance from her. Once again, though, this was one of those games where it was impossible for us to pick an individual Player of the Match because the entire team performed so well. It was a true collective effort, with every player contributing to a fantastic team display.

RAMSGATE 4 – 3 DAFC GIRLS U15 WHITE

DAFC U15 Girls White made the trip over to Ramsgate today, and while the gale-force wind made for extremely difficult playing conditions, playing on the 3G pitch at the main Ramsgate stadium at least provided an excellent surface.

With several players away for half-term, Dover travelled with a bare 11. In such testing weather, it was always going to be tricky with no substitutes, but the girls started brilliantly.

Dover raced into a 2-0 lead, with both goals coming from Emmie Robson. Huge credit for both strikes goes to Shelby, whose work rate in midfield was outstanding. Using her strength and power, she repeatedly won the ball back high up the pitch and moved it quickly into Emmie, who finished both chances with laser-like precision. Just before the break, Ramsgate pulled one back, with the swirling wind playing a major part, to make it 2-1.

Playing directly into the wind in the second half proved a massive challenge. Ramsgate pinned Dover back and capitalised by scoring three goals to take a 4-2 lead.

To try and wrestle back momentum, we changed formations and moved players around. Credit to the girls, as lots ended up playing in unfamiliar positions, yet another challenge to adapt to.

Things got even tougher when Emmie had to come off injured, reducing an already tired and reshuffled Dover side to 10 players. Despite the setback, the girls showed fantastic character and refused to give up. Emily P pulled one back with a very well-taken finish to make it 4-3, and the 10 players pushed hard until the final whistle, unlucky not to find a late equaliser.

Ultimately, it wasn’t the result the girls wanted, but with the weather, player availability and positional changes playing a huge part, there is nothing to be too down about.

Can we play better? Yes. Will we play better? Yes. Are the girls still heading in the right direction? Absolutely. With players back next week, we’ll be in a much stronger position.

DAFC GIRLS U15 BLACK 2–6 WHITSTABLE TOWN RED

Today saw the Under-15 Girls Black take on one of the strongest teams in the league, Whitstable Town Red. While the final scoreline went the way of the visitors at 6–2, the result tells only a fraction of the story on a day where the girls took yet another massive step forward in their development.

The match was played in extreme conditions at Tilmanstone, the gale-force winds were relentless, with corner flags bending at right angles and the goals threatening to take off! Despite the elements making football incredibly difficult, the girls rose to the challenge brilliantly.

Today also marked a special milestone, with Paige Bottomley making her debut. Her arrival means we now have three sisters playing together in the same side, surely a unique achievement for our youth teams at Dover!

Paige wasted no time making her mark, scoring both our goals on debut. She was electric in attack and linked up with her twin sister, Mia, to great effect. That twin partnership is clearly going to deliver plenty of goals and excitement in the season ahead.

At the other end, the third Bottomley sister, Evie, had the thankless task in goal given the treacherous conditions. Despite everything the wind and a top-tier opposition threw at her, she played an absolute blinder and was deservedly named Opposition Player of the Match.

Playing directly into the teeth of the gale in the second half, the entire team defended with everything they had, working tirelessly and refusing to give in.

Embodying that spirit was Libby, our Coaches’ Player of the Match. She worked her socks off down the right flank, showing incredible work rate and bravery against a much more physical opponent, as well as real quality on the ball.

Another huge step in the right direction. This team continues to grow, develop and strengthen week by week. Well done, girls!

Thank you to James for braving the elements to run the line, Olly for helping set up the goals and the legend Jim Pascall for helping clear everything away. Finally, a special mention to Coach Sam, who continues to do a fantastic job helping the girls grow and develop.

DOVER ATHLETIC GIRLS U11 WHITE - MATCH REPORT

Another incredible performance from the girls today!

From the first second we were alive and wanted to play football! Another great score line to go with the result!

From our goalie to striker everyone played their part today!

As coaches we would like to say that we expect mistakes especially at this age what we look for is there reaction after making a mistake! They are going to make loads of mistakes in football no matter what age they are at just let them know that we don’t care - we care about a positive reaction after!

There were some nice comments from the other teams coaches on how are girls drove the ball forward and had a lot of confidence in being able to do that! They also gave a shout out to penny for taking on there 2 biggest girls and coming out of it with the ball!

We also understand that most girls want to play upfront especially when we are winning but this is just not possible!

I hope as parents you see your daughter play in multiple positions learning each position! This will aid their confidence and their ability to read and play the game much better!

Coaches potm was Penny for being resilient but also not giving up under pressure! (She knows what I mean by this)

🌧️ WEATHER THE STORM. THEN BRING ON THE FOOTBALL. ⚽

It might be wild outside right now, but once the storms have passed, Sunday means one thing… MATCHDAY!

Our Dover Athletic Youth Section sides are preparing for another weekend of action, and whatever the weather throws at us beforehand, we’ll be ready to go again.

We’re excited to introduce our new Monthly Awards, recognising the players, teams, coaches and volunteers who make our Youth Section so special.

Each month we’ll celebrate three awards:

⚽ Club Player of the Month
Recognising an individual player who has stood out through their performances, attitude, development or contribution to their team.

👏 Team Performance of the Month
Celebrating a team performance worthy of recognition, whether that’s a great result, fantastic football, teamwork, determination or an outstanding all-round display.

Both of these awards will be nominated by our coaching teams and judged by the Youth Section Committee.

💙 Manager / Coach / Parent Helper / Volunteer of the Month
This one is for our players and families to decide! We want to recognise the brilliant people who give their time and effort to support our players, teams and Youth Section.

Players and parents/carers can nominate someone by sending us a message on Facebook or emailing [email protected], along with a few words telling us why you think they deserve the award.

📅 Our first awards will be for October, with nominations for the Manager / Coach / Parent Helper / Volunteer award open until 25th October.

🏇 RACE NIGHT UPDATE 🏇

Advance ticket sales for our Race Night have not reached the minimum level required to make the event viable on this date. However, we’ve also heard from a significant number of people who would like to attend but can’t make the original date, particularly because it falls at the start of half-term. With that in mind, rather than go ahead with lower numbers, we’ve decided to reschedule the Race Night and find a date that gives more people the opportunity to join us.

For every fundraising event we organise, we want to make sure we provide a great experience for everyone attending while raising as much as possible for our youth teams. Every pound raised counts, and we believe moving the event to a more suitable date gives Race Night the best possible opportunity to achieve both.
