Fly strike season is starting early this year !

Fly strike is a significant risk to us as sheep stock holders, and the next few days will be spend ( with the exception of our annual trip to Nottingham county show) dagging, shearing and spraying the flock before we ear tag, trim up the hooves and start moving the stock on for this season!

Dealing with a sheep with fly strike is never pleasant but when it’s a simple fix, sadly it can grip fast, and hard. Luckily we have caught early this year.

Happy Birthday to the one and only Teddy! 🥳🐴

It’s hard to believe she’s already 9 years old today. Whether she’s being her usual sweet self, showing off her “personality” in the field, or just waiting for that next carrot, she makes every day better.

Here’s to many more years of trails, treats, and Teddy-tude! 🥕🎂✨

Rejected twin is something every stock holder fears more than anything else.
Sadly Clemmie has rejected one of her twins and despite our best efforts it’s not looking good for baby Amaretto.

It is the very hardest part of stock keeping but it’s a very real part of farming.

We count our blessings with the sheep and lambs this year as in years past, the goats were the stronger stock, but having lost three of four delivered babies ( two from bramble delivered weeks early) and now this little girl, this is not our year for kidding.

Welcome to the World! 🍒🥃

Big news! Clemmie has officially had her babies!

The timing couldn't have been more dramatic—she went into labor just as Lexy was arriving at work this morning.

Lexy even had to jump right in and help deliver the first one!

As it’s National Cherry Cheesecake Day and National Amaretto Day …

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of two beautiful twin girls: Cherry (left) - she looks just like her big sister Prim and Amaretto (right)

Say hello to Perri

Perri has been donated to us by the wonderful JBear 3D Printing to help us raise some funds for the farm .

We will be raffling Perri off and drawing the winning ticket at 6pm on Saturday 2nd of May

Tickets are £3 each and can be purchased by messaging the page .

Details : Perri is 3d printed and comes with his own forever tree so he will never go hungry ,

He stands quite tall around 16 inches ( I think)
And all his tail vertebrae move ( a bit like mine !)

His mouth opens and closes and his legs are mobile to position him standing or lying down .

He really is a lovely little guy looking for a forever sofa !

Happy 20th Birthday to the girl who still runs the show. Whether she's demanding ear scratches or perfecting her "feed me" face, she's kept us on our toes, but we wouldn't have it any other way!

Due to operational issues this week there is NO public access to the farm. The walking path is of course open please keep all dogs on leads, but we have no groups sessions or events.

New Arrival at the Farm! 🐑

We have some wonderful news to share this morning! Our Herdwick family just got a little bit bigger.

Buttercup gave birth to a healthy, beautiful baby girl early today. Meet Sorrel!

True to her breed, Sorrel is currently showing off that classic "black-as-coal" fleece and those tiny, sturdy legs that Herdwicks are famous for. She’s already up and exploring, keeping close to Buttercup as she gets used to the morning air.

There is nothing quite like seeing a new lamb finding its footing on the fells. Welcome to the world, little Sorrel! 🌿✨

We have all our baby sheep born now, just waiting for the goats - who are taking FOREVER to be born 😅
