Inclusion Matters
Help make North East Derbyshire more accessible. We need volunteers to support people with disabilities in social clubs, sports, or through befriending. Your time helps break down barriers and reduce isolation.
You will gain a new perspective on life and develop patience and communication skills that are highly valued by employers.
Examples:
Feeling Connected Hub (Low Pavement, S40): This central hub needs "Community Signposting" volunteers to help visitors find local activities. They also look for people to help lead "Knit and Chat" or "Creative Writing" groups.

Pathways of Chesterfield (S40): A homelessness charity looking for "Fundraising Volunteers" to run tabletop stalls, tombolas, and chat with the public about their service.

Derbyshire Carers Association: They are seeking "Telephone Befriending Volunteers" and "Young Carers Activity Volunteers" to provide much-needed respite and social connection for local carers.

Fresh Air and Four Paws
If you prefer the outdoors, why not volunteer with animals or local conservation groups? From dog walking to maintaining our beautiful Derbyshire trails, there are plenty of ways to get active.
Boost your physical health and reduce stress by spending time with animals and in nature.
Examples:
RSPCA (Chesterfield & North Derbyshire Branch): Located on Spital Lane (S41, but serves S40). They frequently require support for animal care, cleaning, and socialising rescued animals.

Chesterfield Animal Rescue: They are currently looking for volunteers to assist with fundraising, transport for animals, and administrative support.

Guide Dogs (Hasland/Chesterfield): Currently recruiting "Puppy Raisers" and "Training Dog Fosterers." This is a full-time commitment at home but vital for providing independence to those with sight loss.

Inspire the Next Generation
Do you have a few hours to spare for local youth clubs or reading schemes? We are looking for mentors and helpers to support children in our area. You will be a friendly face, a listener, and a role model.
It is incredibly rewarding to see a child’s confidence grow because of your support.
Examples:
Fairplay (Alexandra Road, S40): A premier local charity supporting children and young people with disabilities. They need "Session Support" volunteers to help with play schemes and "Event Support" for community fundraisers.

Chesterfield Child Contact Centre (S40): They require impartial and caring volunteers on Saturdays (approx. 11:30–16:30) to facilitate safe contact between children and non-resident parents.

Sight Support Derbyshire (St Margaret’s Drive, S40): Looking for "Children and Young People’s Volunteers" to help organise trips and activities (climbing, crafts, baking) for youth with visual impairments.

Migration of content from Derby and Derbyshire Emotional Health and Wellbeing website

We are informing you that from 1 April 2026 the Derby and Derbyshire Emotional Health and Wellbeing Websitehttps://derbyandderbyshireemotionalhealthandwellbeing.uk/ will no longer be updated.

While it will remain accessible for a while after that date, information currently on it will be hosted elsewhere.

In many cases, content can already be found on the websites of partner organisations. In other cases, content will be moved to these or additional partner websites.

A redirect message will be posted on the Emotional Health and Wellbeing website advising where that content will be hosted. Professionals, service user groups and other stakeholders will also be informed.

This change stems from a review carried out by NHS Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care Board in 2025 about the ways local population groups use digital tools to access emotional health and wellbeing resources and support.

As a result, Joined Up Care Derbyshire system partners agreed to focus website content about emotional health and wellbeing on partner websites that serve local people in Derby and Derbyshire.

If you have any links to the Emotional Health and Wellbeing website on your own website, please remove or update these.

Thank you for your support in managing this change.
