We are absolutely thrilled and incredibly proud to share some amazing news about one of our very own DI clients, the immensely talented Philip Barber!
Philip currently has a stunning exhibition of his drawings and paintings on display right now at the Surrey Heath Museum!

Philip’s collection is a beautiful celebration of still life and vibrant colour. The exhibition showcases a wonderful variety of his original artworks created across different mediums, and seeing his hard work and passion up on those gallery walls is an absolute joy for all of us at Disability Initiative.
We couldn't be prouder of his achievement!

If you are local to Camberley, please pop into the museum to experience Philip’s incredible talent in person.
Exhibition Dates: Running from now until 4th July 2026

A huge celebration of creativity and achievement in our Textile Sculpting programme! ✨

Our clients have been designing and creating their own stunning textured lanterns using fabric, showcasing not only their artistic skills but their imagination, patience, and determination. Each lantern is completely unique – a true reflection of their individuality and hard work.

From experimenting with textures to bringing their ideas to life, this group has created pieces that deserve to be seen and celebrated. We’re so proud of what they’ve accomplished!

Today we say a heartfelt farewell to Paul as he begins his well-earned retirement.

Paul has been a valued and dedicated member of the Disability Initiative team for the past 12 years (2014 – 2026). Throughout his time with us, he has made a lasting impact on both staff and clients, bringing commitment, kindness, and a genuine passion for supporting others every single day.

His contribution has been truly significant, and he will be greatly missed by everyone at DI. We are incredibly grateful for all he has given over the years.

We wish Paul a happy, relaxing, and fulfilling retirement - you have more than earned it!

From all of us at Disability Initiative, thank you and all the very best for the future.

Our Wizards Quest programme was in full swing today, with everyone creating their very own potions 🧪✨

Following step-by-step instructions, measuring ingredients, and working together, everyone took part. The activity encouraged teamwork, communication, and problem-solving, while also supporting attention, sequencing, and memory skills.

There was plenty of creativity on display as each potion came to life, making this a fantastic blend of imagination and cognitive development.

After 10 weeks of creativity, learning, and dedication, our Fragments of Fabric group have completed their beautiful final pieces.

From developing sewing techniques and exploring texture and design, to building patience, problem-solving skills, and confidence, each participant has created something truly personal and unique.

It has been wonderful to watch ideas evolve into finished products, and to see the pride in sharing them this week. A fantastic achievement all round 👏

Today our Confidence in the Kitchen group rolled up their sleeves and made fresh pasta from scratch, building skills step by step — from mixing and kneading the dough to chopping fresh ingredients and working safely together in the kitchen.

It’s been fantastic to see confidence grow as everyone got hands-on, supported one another, and took pride in creating something from the very beginning. A great session full of teamwork, learning, and delicious results! 👏
