A community coming together to inspire the next generation!

On Monday we were in Derby to deliver training for our Primary Engineer Rail Programme with Rail Forum.

Their community has come together to help bring rail engineering into classrooms. Angel Trains, Wabtec UK, DB ESG and Loram UK Ltd have all provided funding in order for us to deliver the programme to 12 schools across Derby - meaning that over 700 pupils will have a hands on experience building their own rail models!

Massive congratulations to the teachers for completing the training, and thank you to the engineers who will support them during the programme ⭐

Inspiring teachers with Renewables!💨

We were on the west coast of Scotland last week with SSE Renewables to deliver our Primary Engineer Construction Programme training to teachers from across South Lanarkshire.

SSE Renewables have funded with us for 3 years in South Lanarkshire to bring engineering into classrooms across the region and tell the pupils and teachers all about the Clyde Windfarm Project.

After this 60 pupils in each school will work in pairs to build their own models before putting their engineering skills to the test!

Building the future, on engineer at a time! 💡

We were with Rolls-Royce and a group of teachers in Glasgow last week for an on-site training day for the Primary Engineer Vehicle Programme.

These amazing teachers will be bringing their new skills into the classroom to teach 30 Lower and 30 Upper Primary pupils how to build their own vehicle models.

Massive thanks to the engineers from Rolls-Royce who have volunteered to support these teachers and act as role models to the pupils!

We kickstarted December with another engineer interview, this time with the wonderful Dr Vincent Giampietro, a Neuroscientist (a brain engineer) from King's College London! 🧠

We found out how Vincent and his team tries to understand how the brain works, how and why it can go wrong and how using machines like an MRI scanner can help with research and seeing what's happening.

Huge thank you to all the pupils who joined us!

We can’t wait to see your pupils’ annotated drawings of how their ideas would work and to read their letters explaining why their design should be built. Every child receives a personalised certificate with feedback from a professional engineer, so make sure to send us your entries once they’re complete!

A huge thank you to James May, an ex-LEGO designer, for joining us for our live Engineer Interview this morning!

We learnt about James’ journey from childhood Lego enthusiast to professional toy designer, his experiences working at Lego and some insight into his current role at Polydron, a UK-based educational toy company.

We had a huge number of teachers and pupils from around the UK tune in and ask the questions that they really wanted to know such as the technical and creative processes involved in designing Lego sets and educational toys.

We can’t wait to see your pupils’ annotated drawings and letters explaining their ideas and designs. Every child receives a personalised certificate with feedback from a professional engineer, so don’t forget to send in your entries once they’re ready!
