We’ve welcomed quite a few new followers recently, so we thought we’d reintroduce ourselves! 👋
We’re Smile Mediation, a registered charity and social enterprise based in Burnley, Lancashire, supporting people across the UK.
Since 1998, we’ve been helping individuals, communities and organisations prevent, manage and resolve conflict. From disagreements between neighbours to difficult conversations at work, we help people feel heard, understand each other and find a positive way forward.
💬 What do we do?
We offer mediation, coaching and training, working with individuals, housing providers, local authorities, community groups, schools and businesses. Every situation is different, so we tailor our support to the people involved
helping them work through challenges and build skills they can use throughout their lives.
💛 Our approach
Conflict can be difficult to talk about. We give people space to be heard, without judgement or taking sides. We help them understand each other and find a way forward that works for them, building confidence to handle difficult conversations along the way. We want mediation to feel approachable, human and accessible.
🤝 Supported by people who care
Our volunteer mediators are a big part of who we are. They choose to give their time and skills because they care about helping people and making a difference in their communities.
They’re a valued part of the Smile team, bringing different experiences and a shared commitment to helping people move forward.
We support them through ongoing learning, shared experience and opportunities to develop their confidence and skills.
In April 2023, Smile became a subsidiary of RESOLVE ASB, strengthening our reach and expertise while continuing our work with people and communities.
