Burnley Canal Volunteering and excited by the amazing heritage of the Leeds Liverpool Canal which passes through the heart of Burnley

This stretch of canal passes over the Straight Mile— one of the seven wonders of the canal world. We have a successful volunteer programme, the Burnley Towpath Taskforce, in place already with people helping us to care for the canal by undertaking conservation tasks. Tasks successfully completed include cutting back sapling trees growing out of the canal wall, litter picks and vegetation clearance

along the towpath. Towpath Taskforce sessions take place on the last Sunday of every month - for more details use the Contact Us button on the front page.
