๐Ÿ‘‹ Hello, my name is Sarah โ€” welcome to Inspire!
Sarah, one of our team members, has severe hearing loss and wears a bone anchored hearing aid. She's also nearly 10 years in recovery, and she knows first-hand how isolating it can feel when you can't communicate properly with the people around you.

That's why she's reaching out in BSL. Through her monthly BSL meet-ups, Sarah has heard time and again that Deaf people often feel cut off from services โ€” and many don't know that we can offer BSL interpreters and other accessible ways of working.

If you or someone you know is struggling with drugs or alcohol, you don't have to face it alone โ€” and you don't have to face it in a language that isn't yours. We're here, and we'll make it work for you. ๐Ÿ’œ

(And yes โ€” Sarah has been teaching everyone she meets to sign "welcome to Inspire!" ๐Ÿ™‚)

โšฝ A Safer World Cup Starts With You ๐Ÿ’œ

The World Cup is a time for excitement, celebration and coming together.

While many people will be enjoying the tournament, we also recognise that for some, this period can feel challenging and may increase the risk of alcohol or substance use.

Throughout the tournament, Inspire Lancashire will be sharing advice, guidance and support around:

Wellbeing
Harm reduction
Alcohol safety
Access to local support services

A few simple things can make a big difference:

โœ… Pace yourself
โœ… Eat well
โœ… Stay hydrated
โœ… Set your limits
โœ… Avoid mixing substances
โœ… Plan ahead
โœ… Look out for your mates

Some venues may also have later licences during the tournament, so if you are heading out, plan ahead and stay safe.

If drugs or alcohol are becoming difficult to manage, support is available.

With the World Cup approaching, this BBC article is a great reminder that football, socialising and big events donโ€™t have to revolve around alcohol.

For some people, choosing not to drink can feel difficult at first, especially when alcohol is so often linked with watching sport, nights out or celebrations. But small changes, planning ahead and having support around you can make a real difference.

Whether youโ€™re cutting down, taking a break, or thinking about stopping altogether, Inspire is here to help.

๐Ÿ’š Supporting someone with alcohol or drug use can feel overwhelming.

You might be trying to help, keep things together, protect others, or simply work out what to say next.

This Carers Week, we want families, friends and loved ones to know that you deserve support too.

Inspire can offer advice, reassurance, harm reduction information and a safe space to talk things through.

You donโ€™t have to manage everything on your own.

Volunteers make a huge difference at Inspire ๐Ÿ’œ

In 2025โ€“2026, volunteers kindly gave 18,662 hours to support our service users across Lancashire.

That time, care and commitment helps us reach more people, strengthen our services and create welcoming spaces for those who need support.

Weโ€™re currently recruiting volunteers for East Lancs, with opportunities including:

Community Engagement
ETE
Housing Support
Harm Reduction

Whether you have lived experience, professional skills, or simply want to give something back, volunteering can be a powerful way to make a difference.

**More than a qualification ๐Ÿ’œ**

This clip captures something really special about the volunteer development journey.

Yes, itโ€™s about learning, building skills and completing the Level 2 Recovery Worker Qualification โ€” but itโ€™s also about confidence, connection, friendship and recognising the qualities people already bring.

Over six months, volunteers from across the North West took part in classroom learning, embedded practice and one-to-one support, helping them grow in confidence and prepare for future opportunities.

Hearing people talk about the friendships theyโ€™ve made, the support theyโ€™ve received and how proud they feel is a reminder of how powerful volunteering and learning can be.

A huge well done to everyone involved. Your commitment, dedication and growth is something to be really proud of.
