Berwick-upon-Tweed Educational Association

Berwick-upon-Tweed Educational Association We organise educational courses and excursions for the the local community of Berwick-upon-Tweed to set up the BERWICK-upon-TWEED EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATION.

A group of like-minded people met on the 29th April 2014 at the Berwick Voluntary Centre building in Tweed St. The group planned to offer a full programme of classes and excursions to local people on all kind of subjects ranging from local history and archaeology to geology, art and literature. After over 30 years of experience with the Workers' Educational Association we are branching out on our

own. We now have the freedom to set up the kind of classes, lectures and excursions that local people want to attend and can fit into their busy lives. We are flexible and open to new ideas so if you want to keep learning and enjoy a bit of company, please get in touch. We would also love to hear from local people with experience of delivering education in any field as we are always on the lookout for new subjects to offer.

Fighting Climate Change: Net Zero North East England. Thurs 29 Jan @ 10-12, William Elder Building.

This lecture by Ellie Grimes and Dan Wales-Hart is one of three lectures introducing and exploring the topic of Carbon Offsetting held in cooperation with Greener Berwick. It was due to be held in September, but was re-scheduled due to illness.

Looking at carbon credits and how they work in Northumberland, Dan will introduce the North East Carbon and Nature Marketplace. Ellie will introduce the other work of the NZNEE Partnership, and how the Marketplace can be the central one-stop shop for nature recovery, decarbonisation, and social value benefits.

Ellie, who is the NZNEE Programme Manager, will introduce the Partnership, and explain why it is an integral part of creating a cleaner, greener, fairer North East. She will also discuss the Partnership’s priority action areas, and reflect on its work so far. Tickets £6.
