We currently have an opportunity for new volunteers for our boat crew at Eyemouth lifeboat station.
You need to live or work within 15 minutes of the station, and ideally would have some availability through the daytime.
Training is provided, so you don't need to have experience on boats, just a commitment to learn. This is a great chance to learn new skills while having fun as part of a team, and to contribute to the community.
Eyemouth has two lifeboats, our all-weather lifeboat (ALB) 'Helen Hastings' and the smaller inshore lifeboat (ILB) 'Sheila'.

Eyemouth Parish Church is once again our hosts for a special concert. This year we are celebrating 150 years of Eyemouth lifeboat station, established in 1876 to assist the fishing fleet in times of trouble. Since then, 146 lives have been saved.
Come along to Eyemouth Parish Church on the 20th of November 2026 at 7pm, and join us for an evening of music with talented local artists.

We have a vacancy for a mechanic for our Inshore Lifeboat (ILB).

This is a paid part time volunteer role that would suit someone with knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems.

Established in 1876, Eyemouth Lifeboat Station is located in Gunsgreen Quay, in the busy fishing port of Eyemouth. It currently operates a Shannon class all-weather lifeboat and a D class inshore lifeboat.

Eyemouth Coastguard – Coastal Safety Advice

The Met Office has warned of a spell of unsettled weather, with Storm Austen followed by Storm Boelo, bringing strong winds and heavy rain to parts of Scotland and the UK.

🌬️ Storm Boelo is expected to affect Scotland from Saturday, 24 October, into Sunday, 25 October. The Met Office warns that gusts of 55–65 mph are possible widely across affected areas, with gusts of 70–80 mph or more possible in exposed coastal locations and on high ground. Heavy rain will add to the risk of disruption.

🌊 OUR SAFETY ADVICE

🔹 Stay well back from the sea. Powerful waves can reach much further up the shore than expected and sweep people off their feet.

🔹 Avoid harbour walls, piers and exposed rocks. Waves breaking over these areas can be extremely dangerous, even if the sea initially appears manageable.

🔹 Keep away from cliff edges. Strong gusts, wet ground and slippery paths increase the risk of falls.

🔹 Don't go wave watching. Please don't put yourself or others at risk for photographs or videos of stormy seas.

🔹 Prepare for strong winds and heavy rain. Secure loose outdoor items, take care when travelling and be alert to fallen branches, debris, surface water and localised flooding.

🔹 Check before you travel. Conditions can change quickly, so keep up to date with the latest Met Office warnings and forecasts.

We have a vacancy for a full time Coxswain at Eyemouth lifeboat station.

Ideally, you would live within 10 minutes travel of the lifeboat station.

The job role is to deliver an effective lifesaving service by commanding the lifeboat, whilst ensuring that relevant crew, boats and equipment are totally compliant.

This is a seagoing role.

Some of the pupils who made the unique Eyemouth Christmas cards, for sale now and available at the lifeboat station and at the coming Late Night Shopping.
The designs are inspired by the history of Eyemouth lifeboat station 1876 - 2026.

Judges from the Eyemouth Lifeboat visited the school on Wednesday to judge the S1 and S2 Enrichment designs for the Lifeboat Christmas Card competition.

Congratulations to Finn, Marcie and Kitty, who were all awarded prizes for their fantastic designs. A special congratulations also goes to Ayla, whose badge design will be made into a commemorative badge to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Eyemouth Lifeboat.

All students’ designs will be printed as Christmas cards, which will be available to purchase at the Eyemouth Late Night Shopping event and other events in Eyemouth in the lead-up to Christmas. Well done to everyone who took part and shared their creativity in support this valued local organisation!

As it is our 150th anniversary this year, pupils at Eyemouth High School art department have been busy making some wonderful designs based on the history of Eyemouth lifeboat and her crews.
We have these special Eyemouth Christmas cards now for sale, available at the lifeboat station and at the coming late night shopping event.

The regular cards are 5 for £10 and the very special, one-of-a-kind large cards cost £4.50 each. These large cards are handmade and feature artwork from the pupils.

The money raised goes jointly to Eyemouth High School art department to buy extra materials and tools, and to Eyemouth lifeboat station towards our running costs.

Thank you to the pupils who created these artworks, and to their teacher Mrs Cochrane. Thanks also go to the two local artists who volunteered for the difficult task of choosing the final images, Linda Foster and Scapa Joe.
