Goldington Reading Rooms, 1 Barkers Lane, Bedford (2026)

The venue hosts a variety of recreational, hobby, wellness and fitness activities, support groups, community meetings, polling station etc. Goldington Reading and Recreation Rooms was built in 1904 by local benefactors for the benefit of local communities in Goldington, and more widely, Bedford. Today, the venue is run and managed by the Board of Trustees, mostly local residents, who maintain the

building and its facilities, often with help from local enthusiasts and volunteers, and who make sure that it continues to be a welcoming space where local communities can meet and enjoy. The venue is available for a variety of occasions, such as:

- societies and clubs
- support groups
- baby groups
- wellness, fitness, yoga, reiki, tai chi, meditation
- creative and crafting groups
- dance classes and rehearsals
- choir and band practices
- trainings
- public meetings
- polling station

The overall capacity is 40 persons. The venue consists of:

- Main Hall
- Committee Room
- Entrance, meet-and-greet area
- Coffee and tea room
- 2 toilets (one is accessible)
- Baby changing desk
- Wheelchair access
- Limited parking area

Goldington Reading and Recreation Rooms is available 7 days a week, mornings, afternoon and evenings. The hourly hire cost: £12

🎭 IT'S SHOWTIME! 🎤

We're proud that Rehearsal Rooms Theatre have chosen our venue for their rehearsals again. Over the past several months, they have been perfecting their latest production - 🌇 Avenue Q The Musical 🌃 - which is coming to The Place Theatre next week!

Avenue Q is a musical comedy featuring puppets and human actors with music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx and a book by Jeff Whitty. It is an adult-oriented musical comedy, often described as a raucous, R-rated Sesame Street 🤭

For the first time, the three-time Tony Award-winning musical comes to Bedford, having conquered both Broadway and West End over the past twenty years!

We're happy to announce that Socatots classes are coming to Goldington Reading Rooms🤩

The classes introduce football in a fun, non-competitive, pressure-free way that suits toddlers and preschoolers. Through unique teachings along with play-based games with or without the ball, children naturally develop balance, coordination and ball familiarity — without even realising they’re 'training'.

When: Mondays, from 10.00 to 10.40
Starting: 13 April 2026

The classes are designed to help little ones (boys and girls, 1 to 4 years old):
