Something I think about a lot working at IMPAKT, £5 goes further here than almost anywhere else.

It goes towards a welcome pack for someone moving into housing for the first time. It helps us provide essentials for someone fleeing abuse, sometimes with nothing. It puts food on the shelves of our community larder in Bedford for families who need it ❤️

Spotted this one around town.

This National Volunteers' Week, we're after a few more people to lend a hand at our Community Food Larder in Bedford. Whether you can give a few hours regularly or just when we're busy, your time makes a real difference to local people facing food insecurity.

No experience needed, we'll show you the ropes. You'd be helping stock the shelves, sort donations, pack parcels, and make sure everyone who comes through the door feels welcome.

A handful of people. 140 visitors a week. The maths shouldn't work, but it does.
This National Volunteers' Week, we want to say a proper thank you to everyone who supports our Community Food Larder.

Whether you're in with us regularly through the year or you lend a hand during our busiest spells, your time genuinely keeps this place going. It's what lets us provide an essential service to the people in our community who need it most.

To everyone who's packed food parcels, sorted donations, welcomed visitors through the door, or supported the team behind the scenes: thank you. The Larder runs better for you being in it.

A post from Caroline, Director of Housing:

On Wednesday I spent the day with 32 of our Housing colleagues from Bedford, Luton and Northampton for our Housing Team Day, and I left with a lot to think about.

We're taking a close look at how IMPAKT is performing against the Consumer Standards in the Social Housing Regulation Act. Meeting the requirements matters, but I'm just as focused on being honest with ourselves about where we can do better.

The day centred on two of the four standards: Transparency, Influence & Accountability, and Neighbourhood & Community. The discussions were genuinely good, and the ideas coming from the team left me feeling optimistic about what we can do next. 💡

The most important voices in all this aren't ours though; they're our residents'. Your feedback is what will actually shape the next steps, and I want to hear it.

Think you know what homelessness looks like?

Most people experiencing homelessness aren't sleeping rough.

They're sofa surfing, in temporary accommodation, or in a B&B, often after a relationship breakdown, job loss, or leaving an abusive situation. 1 in 50 people in the UK will experience it. The barrier to getting help isn't willingness. It's access.
