Thank you The Harpur Trust for your support which enables us to provide support to members of our Bedford community.

As part of World Refugee Day, we’re proud to highlight the impact of our grant funding in supporting refugees and asylum seekers across Bedfordshire.

We’re delighted to support Bedfordshire Refugee & Asylum Seeker Support, an organisation providing vital support, hope, and opportunities for those seeking refuge in the county.

Through their work, individuals and families are empowered to overcome poverty and disadvantage, feel welcomed and included, gain new knowledge and skills, and take steps towards independence and a brighter future.

Funding from The Harpur Trust plays an important role in enabling charities like BRASS to continue delivering this essential support, helping people rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

🌍As part of Refugee Week this week, members of the Bedford migrant and refugee communities are invited to anonymously contribute a story to our 'Sharing Stories' project.

✨To start our project off, will be running a story gathering and origami cranes workshop where participants can drop in and share a brief story. This can be written or drawn, and in any language, on a piece of origami paper and folded into a crane. Stories can be anything from a song or poem to a memory from home or a memorable moment or person.

As the project progresess, the stories and cranes will become part of installations, performance pieces and artwork.

📅Workshop date: Wednesday 17th June
📍Location: 1st Floor, Bedford Central Library, Harpur Street, Bedford.
🕗Time: 11am – 4pm

Stories can also be dropped into our ‘Sharing Stories’ boxes that are located at BRASS Bedfordshire Refugee & Asylum Seeker Support (27b Tavistock Street, Bedford) and The Higgins Bedford (Castle Lane, Bedford).

If you work with migrant and refugee communities in Bedford, please help spread the word! Thank you ❤️

For refugees around the world, courage is often a daily necessity.

Inspired by the lives and experiences of people seeking sanctuary, Refugee Week 2026 (15-21 June) invites us to explore the theme of Courage.

Behind every refugee is a story of strength, hope and unyielding bravery. Let’s honour their courage, amplify their voices and commit to building a world where everyone can find home.

Garfield Weston Foundation
Thank you very much to The Garfield Weston Foundation for the generous grant awarded to BRASS. It will make a huge difference to the work we do here, and will make a positive contribution towards the community.
The Garfield Weston Foundation is a family founded grant-maker supporting charities operating in a wide variety of sectors across the UK that make a positive difference within their communities.
Established by W. Garfield Weston in 1958 through an endowment of shares in the family business – now known as Associated British Foods plc – the Foundation continues to be guided by the Weston Family. The Trustees, each of whom are direct descendants of the founder, play an active, informed role in its work.
THANK YOU!
