Sending our love and respect to all of the carers in our local community.
Carers Week is an annual awareness campaign dedicated to highlighting the vital contribution of unpaid carers—people who provide care for family members, friends, or neighbours without pay - and raising awareness of the challenges they face.
In 2026, the campaign runs from Monday 8 June to Sunday 14 June across the UK and Ireland
The theme for this year is “Building Carer Friendly Communities”, emphasizing the importance of creating supportive environments where carers feel recognised, valued, and empowered
Carers Week aims to:
* Recognise carers’ contributions to families and communities, with an estimated 5.8 million carers in the UK and over 600,000 in Ireland
* Raise awareness of the physical, emotional, and financial challenges carers face, including stress, isolation, and difficulty balancing work and caring responsibilities
*Encourage communities and organisations to become carer-friendly by identifying carers, listening to their experiences, and providing practical support
*Promote access to support services and resources for carers who may not identify themselves as such
