What better way to celebrate completing the first phase of our major fundraising appeal than by being shortlisted for a Celebrate Aberdeen award for Campaign of the Year!

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising efforts. Thanks to you, we were able to build a new modern home, transform our old bookshop into the thriving Murtle Market social enterprise, and open a sensory playpark 👏.

At Camphill School Aberdeen, we don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach to learning and development.

We work with each young person to understand their skills, needs and interests, shaping their programme around what works for them. That might include time in the classroom, practical work, creative workshops, or opportunities across the wider estate.

By recognising that every young person is different, we can provide the right support and opportunities for them to develop their skills, build confidence and find their place within the community.

Back with another batch!🍎
Our apple juice will be returning to Murtle Market soon.

Last year was our first time making apple juice using apples from the garden, harvested by our young people as part of the Michaelmas celebrations. It sold out quickly, so we’re looking forward to bringing it back again this year.

The apples will once again be heading to Elgin’s Orchard to be pressed into juice, ready to arrive at Murtle Market by the end of October.

Many of the fruit and vegetables are grown on Murtle Estate or our nearby Cairnlee Estate where they're tended to and harvested by the young adults we support as part of meaningful learning and work experiences.

Our pupils at Camphill School Aberdeen have been out and about visiting different local beaches as part of the Great British Beach Clean!🌊

Working together, our classes collected lots of rubbish and helped make a positive difference to our beautiful coastline. They enjoyed the fresh sea breeze, autumn sunshine and the opportunity to work together outdoors.

Next stop on our behind-the-scenes tour: our creative workshops! 🎨

From felting and weaving to pottery and painting, our art-based workshops give young people the opportunity to explore their creativity while developing practical skills and gaining meaningful work experience.

The workshops also offer therapeutic benefits, with the hands-on, rhythmic nature of many of the activities providing a calm and focused space to learn and create.

Our School Sports Day brought everyone together for an afternoon of challenges, encouragement and plenty of fun!

In the spirit of Michaelmas, it was a chance to show courage, try something new and challenge ourselves, whether that meant running a little faster, giving something a go for the first time or cheering on our friends.

There was a real sense of teamwork throughout the afternoon, with everyone encouraging one another and celebrating each other’s efforts.

As autumn begins, we came together this week to celebrate Michaelmas and the changing season. 🍂

Our harvest display brought together everything that we've grown and harvested throughout the year, before we shared a harvest meal of soup made with vegetables from the garden and bread made from the grains harvested from the fields.

Michaelmas marks the changing of the agricultural season and the move towards shorter, colder days. It is also a time to reflect on finding courage to face difficult times and the darkness that winter can bring, while celebrating the triumph of good over evil.

We came together to sing Michaelmas songs, share food and welcome the new season as a community.
