Welcome to BGC South Vancouver Island (formerly Boys and Girls Club of Greater Victoria)

BGC South Vancouver Island (BGCSVI) and Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Victoria Foundation (BGCGVF) are each supported by separate governing boards that work together to strengthen our impact: the Services Board, which focuses on governance, strategy, and oversight of BGCSVI and its operations, and the BGCGVF Board, which focuses on fundraising, philanthropy, growing and stewarding the resources needed to sustain and expand our work.

As we enter our next chapter, we are seeking thoughtful, committed leaders who want to help guide our long-term strategy, strengthen governance, fundraising, and expand our impact in communities across South Vancouver Island.

Currently seeking a Treasurer for both our Services and Foundation boards as well as an individual with Business Development and sales experience for our Foundation board.

This week at RISE Westshore (345 Wale Road in Colwood) the youth took on a delicious challenge of making Chewy Pumpkin Snickerdoodle Cookies. These make a great dessert for teens to learn, because the steps are simple and help build basic baking skills like measuring, mixing, and rolling dough. Successfully turning raw ingredients into a finished, edible dessert creates a tangible sense of accomplishment and teaches resilience when a recipe does not go as planned. Our Thursday night programs strengthen team-building skills and social confidence by giving youth structured, low pressure opportunities to collaborate, communicate, and form friendships outside school hours. This week, our children brought the beauty of fall indoors with a colourful nature collage activity! Using vibrant autumn leaves, glue, and plenty of imagination, they created their own unique designs and beautiful leafy trees.

This week at CSAAN (1233 Clark Road, Brentwood Bay) the youth took on the fun challenge of making mini pizzas; they were so delicious, we all went back for seconds! Learning how to plan meals, follow recipes, handle kitchen tools safely, and manage a basic grocery budget helps prepare teens for living on their own; also, teens who cook are more likely to appreciate whole, nutrient-dense ingredients, rely less on fast food or processed meals, and explore a broader palate of flavours. Our next round of cooking starts up again on November 13th; if you'd like to sign your teen(s)up, there's only a few spots left, so please send an email to [email protected]

At our Central Saanich Club, the everyday moments are full of opportunities to build friendships, explore creativity, and have fun!

Recently, our crew headed to the beach for some hands-on learning about local wildlife and how to handle marine animals safely and respectfully. The group was especially excited to share fun facts about moon jellyfish! 🪼

From creative play to coastal discoveries, we’re building connections, growing curiosity, and making memories together. That’s what being part of BGC South Vancouver Island is all about!
