The Victoria Ska and Reggae Society's Annual General Meeting will be taking place Weds October 28th at 6:30pm online on Google Meet. We like to keep the meetings to the point and hope to be wrapped up by 7:30pm

We encourage all members and volunteers of the Society and Festival to attend. Membership to the Society is only $5.00 annually, or free for volunteers. This membership allows you to vote and have a say on important issues surrounding the Society and festival, and to get exclusive access to events, merchandise, and other super-fun stuff.

We just have a programming adjustment to announce for our show on Sat. Nov 14th at Lucky. Due to a family emergency, we have had to replace Dirtnap with HOG to open the show for Mean Bikini and Bad Waitress.

HOG'S punk styles are heavily inspired by bands such as NoMeansNo, Pigment Vehicle, Big Black, Death From Above 1979 Tool, and maybe even a little Elton John. The band was formed in Toronto in 2016 and then replanted into Victoria where the founding member - bassist Evan Hillier is from.

We just wanted to let you all know that our friends at Haus of Owl are presenting a free lecture featuring Nev Gibson - Operations Manager for the Victoria Ska and Reggae Festival / Society on Tuesday, October 20th from 6pm - 9pm.

The session is called "The Cost of Doing Community - How Can we Mitigate Rising Event Costs"

In this business planning focused session, Nev will be talking about how to leverage partnerships, use custom technology, and resources that you may already have to stay in the black, while supporting many other organizations.

The event will take place at Haus of Owl, located at 780 Blanshard Street on the 4th floor. The space is accessible with elevator access, gender-inclusive washrooms. The front entrance has an automatic door with a ramp leading back to the elevator. Additional accessibility information can be found at

Hosted by the Arts & Community Infrastructure (ACI) Foundation, a registered charity developing a new non-profit landlord / cultural land trust model for the arts in Greater Victoria. Future sessions will cover topics including infrastructure, fundraising & advocacy.

What a show we had last night with Kobo Town and Hot Pot at ENCORE! We were so happy to have a busy night especially given it was mid week and on the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.

All the bands played their hearts out and the room was full of good energy!

Thanks to ENCORE for being great hosts and working with us.
