Kn Sqilxw Sx̌lx̌ʕalt – Indigenous Peoples' Day
Today, on Kn Sqilxw Sx̌lx̌ʕalt (Indigenous Peoples' Day), we celebrate the strength, resilience, and living culture of the syilx people and Indigenous Peoples across these lands.
This day is an opportunity to honour our Elders, Knowledge Keepers, language speakers, youth, and all those who continue to carry our teachings forward. We recognize the generations who came before us, the responsibilities we hold today, and the future we are building for those yet to come.
Kn Sqilxw Sx̌lx̌ʕalt is also a reminder that Indigenous cultures are not only part of our history. They are living, evolving, and thriving today. We are proud of the contributions our people make every day to our families, community, and Nation.
As we mark this day, we encourage everyone to take time to learn, listen, celebrate, and reflect on the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples.
From all of us at the Okanagan Indian Band, we wish our members a meaningful and joyful Kn Sqilxw Sx̌lx̌ʕalt.
