We are beyond grateful to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation for its leadership and embracing the vision of Foundry North Okanagan. This is truly community supporting community. Thank you.
May is Mental Health Month, and we’re proud to mark it with news that reflects our deepest commitment to this community.
We are excited to announce that VJH Foundation has made a landmark investment of $500,000 to CMHA Vernon to support the creation of Foundry North Okanagan, a new centre which will offer barrier-free mental health, substance use and wellness services for youth aged 12 to 24. 💙
70% of mental health issues begin before age 18. Yet youth often face barriers when seeking mental health support. Foundry North Okanagan will change that, bringing together mental health counselling, substance use health supports, primary care, peer support, and wraparound services in one location, free of charge and without the need for referral, decreasing stigma and improving timely access to care.
This investment builds on our collaboration with Interior Health and the VJH Auxiliary to open the Youth Mental Health Pod at Vernon Jubilee Hospital last fall. These two projects will together form a continuum of care for young people across the North Okanagan.
We are honoured to be part of this journey and look forward to continuing this work together to build a healthier future for our youth.
Foundry North Okanagan will be located on 29th Avenue in Vernon. Groundbreaking is slated for this spring.
