Double digits! Okanagan Rail Trail parkrun reached 10 events on a beautiful, sunny morning in Coldstream!

16 first timers were a part of 49 participants this morning, which also saw visiting parkrunners from London and Manchester in the UK, and from Revelstoke (a little closer to home).

And let's not forget the 11 PBs that were achieved. Congratulations to all!

And a hearty thanks to our volunteers, who make parkrun possible: Jason PAAS, Nathan WILLETT, Bob HARDING, Bec BROWNE, Bridget PERRY-GORE, Laura MALLEY, and Sheryle, PAAS!

It didn't affect our Saturday activities, but it is still news worth sharing!

Happy Friday trail users! We are excited to share that the erosion prevention work along the Okanagan Rail Trail, between Kick Willie Road and Kekuili Bay Provincial Park is now complete and the trail has been reopened!
Thanks for this important maintenance work completed expediently!

Going to the American Thanksgiving "Turkey Trot" on a Thursday down at the Winthrop Trailhead parkrun was a bit unique... LOTS of snow and a number of loops... and VERY well attended for a parkrun that it usually quite small.

parkruns don’t just take place in parks! It’s more than a weekly opportunity to run, walk or volunteer – it’s a way to connect with the places around us. From disused airports and industrial halls to historic city centers, these courses offer experiences you might never expect from a parkrun...

It was just the right temperature this morning for Okanagan Rail Trail parkrun Event No. 9, with our new summer start time of 8am!

The time change, however, caught a handful of people off guard, and our numbers were a little lower than usual, with 38 participants.

We had 14 first timers and 8 personal bests today, along with visitors from Regina, Victoria and Penticton to enjoy our beautiful course.

A huge shout out to our 9 volunteers, without whom our parkrun could not happen: Jason PAAS, Rod WILLIS, Carol WILLIS, Janice WRIGHT, Marisol LETOURNEAU, Bridget PERRY-GORE, Laura MALLEY, Sheryle PAAS, and Doug GELLER.

A reminder to everyone that we will be starting Okanagan Rail Trail parkrun a bit earlier this week at 8am. This change will continue through the summer as we attempt to get ahead of the Okanagan heat.

Also, the construction closure on the rail trail is NOT in effect over the weekend, and will NOT affect our parkrun.
