The IIEE-Canada Chapter successfully conducted its 3rd Technical Webinar on May 9, 2026, bringing together engineering professionals, students, industry practitioners, and guests from different parts of Canada, the Philippines, the Middle East, Asia, Australia, and North America. The webinar served as a platform for professional development, knowledge sharing, and international collaboration among electrical engineering professionals.

The event formally opened with welcome remarks from the Chapter Officers, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to continuous learning, technical excellence, and global professional engagement under the chapter theme, “IIEE Brighter 2026: Empowering the Future, Illuminating Excellence, Leading with Humility.”

The webinar featured distinguished technical speakers who shared valuable expertise and industry insights:

* Julius O. Salacup, P*E discussed Applied Protection Coordination Engineering Beyond the Curve, highlighting practical approaches and advanced concepts in protection coordination engineering.

* Atty. Andrea May C. Toyoda, REE presented Electricity Market Opportunities for Energy Storage Systems, providing participants with a deeper understanding of regulatory frameworks and emerging opportunities in the energy sector.

* Danielle Jaye Agron, MSc.EE delivered an informative discussion on the Impact of Surge in EV Charging on Phase Unbalance in Power Distribution Network, focusing on challenges and innovations in modern power systems and electric vehicle integration.

The webinar was further inspired by the presence of distinguished inspirational speakers:

* Ma. Celeste M. Valderrama, Labor Attaché of the Migrant Workers Office under the Consulate General of the Philippines in Vancouver, British Columbia, shared an encouraging message supporting Filipino professionals abroad.

* Eliza Dela Torre, RME, REE, MBA, MIEAUst, President of the IIEE-Australia New Zealand Chapter, emphasized regional cooperation and professional collaboration among global IIEE chapters.

The event concluded successfully with active participation, engaging discussions, and positive feedback from attendees worldwide. IIEE Canada Chapter Officers attended the Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of the newly renovated Consular Space and the Town Hall Meeting with Ambassador Jose Victor Chan-Gonzaga. The event was organized by the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver and gathered members of the Filipino community, organizations, and professionals across BC.

The ceremony highlighted the reopening and blessing of the newly renovated consular facilities, which aim to provide improved services and a more welcoming environment for Filipinos in the region. During the ribbon cutting, attendees witnessed the formal inauguration led by Ambassador Jose Victor Chan-Gonzaga together with consular officials and distinguished guests.

Following the ceremony, the Town Hall Meeting provided an opportunity for community leaders and organization representatives to engage directly with the Philippine Ambassador. Important discussions focused on strengthening the relationship between the Philippine government and Filipino communities in Canada, promoting unity among Filipino organizations, supporting professionals overseas, and enhancing future programs and collaborations for the welfare of Filipinos abroad.

The participation of the IIEE Canada Chapter officers demonstrated the organization’s continuous commitment to supporting community engagement, professional collaboration, and partnership with the Philippine diplomatic mission in Canada. The event also served as a valuable opportunity to establish connections with fellow Filipino professionals and community leaders while representing the engineering profession and the Filipino engineering community in Canada.

The officers expressed their appreciation to the Philippine Embassy in Canada and the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver for organizing a meaningful and successful event that promotes unity, cooperation, and service to the Filipino community.

The IIEE Canada Chapter successfully conducted its 2nd Technical Webinar on April 18, 2026, via Zoom, bringing together Filipino electrical practitioners from across Canada and various parts of the world. The event served as a dynamic platform for knowledge sharing, professional growth, and meaningful engagement among members of the global engineering community.

The webinar featured insightful technical presentations delivered by distinguished resource speakers, highlighting current trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in the field of electrical engineering. In addition, inspirational messages from respected leaders of the Institute encouraged participants to continue striving for excellence, innovation, and professional advancement.

Attendees benefited from a rich exchange of ideas and practical knowledge that can be applied in their respective fields of practice. The event also reinforced the importance of continuous learning and active participation in professional organizations such as IIEE, particularly in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape.
