A daughter’s love is turning into life-changing impact.

After losing her dad, Lawrence, to a rare cancer called paraganglioma, Alexia Greco is bringing her community together for “Lawrence’s Drive for a Cure” — a golf tournament and fundraiser supporting BC Cancer Foundation.

Rare cancers like this are often overlooked and underfunded. But thanks to donor support, researchers like Dr. Brandon Bernard are making real progress, improving how these cancers are found, tracked and treated.

Every dollar raised helps move this work forward and gives families more answers, more options and more hope.

As a child facing leukemia, Dr. Carlos Uribe remembers the fear, the pain — and the rare moments that didn’t hurt.

Today, he’s helping create better experiences for cancer patients across B.C.

Thanks to BC Cancer Foundation donors, Dr. Uribe was part of the team that brought a next-generation PET/CT scanner to Vancouver — technology that delivers faster scans, clearer results and more precise treatment options.

But it’s not just about the technology. It’s about people. From calming visuals in waiting rooms to more compassionate care, Dr. Uribe is helping make the cancer journey just a little bit easier.

Ten years ago, Sarah Roth walked into BC Cancer Foundation as its new President & CEO. Today, she's helped build something that reaches patients and families in communities across British Columbia — more research funded, more innovation in care, and more people who know that their community has a foundation behind them.

What stands out most isn't the milestones — it's the people. The researchers whose work found a pathway to funding. The donors who became true partners in change. The patients and families whose lives look different because of what this community built together.

Thank you, Sarah — for a decade of showing what's possible when purpose meets perseverance.

Here's what Sarah has to say about her 10 years of impact: https://bccancerfoundation.com/news-and-media/blog/leading-with-impact-bc-cancer-foundation-president-ceo-sarah-roth-on-the-evolving-role-of-cancer-philanthropy-in-b-c/

For patients in the Fraser region, cancer care just got closer, faster and more accessible. The expanded chemotherapy suite at BC Cancer – Surrey is officially open — fully funded by the BC Cancer Foundation and more than 500 donors.

In a region with over 10,000 new cancer diagnoses each year, that’s a game-changer. Shorter wait times. Faster access. Care closer to home.

A new made-in-B.C. breakthrough is helping families better understand their cancer risk — with just a single blood test.

For Linda, that meant being able to alert her family and help them take action early.

In a pilot study, just nine patients helped identify the hereditary risk for 188 relatives. That's what it means to invest in wide-impact solutions, not one patient at a time, but generations at a time.

This is what your support makes possible.

The BC Cancer Foundation is currently fundraising for this $6 million priority. Contribute to this incredible innovation today: https://bccancerfoundation.com/news-and-media/blog/a-breakthrough-in-hereditary-cancer-testing/

Dr. Julian Smazynski is leading cutting-edge work in immunotherapy, helping to push one of the most promising cancer treatments forward.

Working alongside Dr. Brad Nelson at the Deeley Research Centre (DRC), his team is advancing CAR T-cell therapy, which reprograms a patient’s own immune cells to find and destroy cancer with precision. BC Cancer’s Conconi Family Foundation Immunotherapy Lab was the first in Canada to manufacture and deliver this therapy entirely in-house.

Now, they’re tackling one of the biggest challenges in cancer care: using CAR T-cell therapy to treat solid tumours like ovarian and pancreatic cancer. Early results are showing strong promise, with clinical trials on the horizon in B.C., Calgary and Ottawa.

With decades of expertise behind this work, there’s real hope this research could make a global impact.

What started as a student-led idea has grown into something special 🎶

The Annual Youth Fundraising Concert once again brought together incredibly talented young musicians from across Vancouver for an evening of powerful performances in support of the BC Cancer Foundation.

Over the past few years, this event has helped raise more than $13,000 and created some truly unforgettable nights. This year was no different — the team hit their $5,000 goal, making year four another incredible success.
