Hello AKR community,

Fall is now in full swing, and today we are ready to report our September West Coast arrivals!

🇨🇦 Sept 5 | Vancouver Little Wood arrived and went straight to his forever home, where he’s been surrounded by love from his new family from the moment they met.

🇺🇸 Sept 14 | San Francisco Chani arrived and was adopted by a family with three human siblings—he really picked a lucky ticket! Everything is going great, and both Chani and his family are happy to have each other.

🇨🇦 Sept 18 | Vancouver Ongsimi and Pposong arrived together. Ongsimi is settling into her forever home and making great progress gaining trust and acceptance from her furry sister, Potato. Pposong spent time with his foster, Cassie Cho, doing great with a group of canine and human friends on a camping trip. He has now been adopted by an AKR alumni family who traveled all the way from Toronto to Vancouver to pick him up! He joins his new furry sibling, fellow AKR pup Eunbi.

🇺🇸 Sept 20 | Seattle Kkodong (now Kira) arrived and is so loved by her new family. Her behavior inside the house is perfect, and they are currently working on her recall and leash walking.

🇨🇦 Sept 20 | Vancouver Ogong (now Boomer) was met by foster Yumiko Sato while his family was out of town. He is now home with his forever family and his new furry sibling, Bandit—a fellow rescue who is helping Boomer adjust to his new life.

🇨🇦 Sept 24 | Vancouver Ruji and Jam arrived together. Ruji went to her forever home and is already learning to stay home while her owners are away. Jam was met by foster-to-adopt mom Nasia Mak and graduated from foster to full adoptee in just a week! Congratulations to Jam and his new family.

Congratulations to all the doggies and their families! We send a big thank you to our fosters and all AKR volunteers.

25 dogs. 25 new beginnings. 🤍🐾

September was another beautiful month for our AKR family.
These 25 precious dogs found their forever homes and began a brand-new chapter with their families. 🏡✨

From Korea to their new homes across Canada and the U.S., every journey was made possible by so many people — our adopters, fosters, volunteers, and everyone who shared, supported, and cheered them on along the way.

To our adopters, thank you for opening your hearts and homes.
And to everyone who helped make these journeys possible, thank you for being part of their story. 💙

Happy Gotcha Day to our September AKR family! 🐶💕
Here’s to a lifetime of love, adventures, and happy memories together.

Hello AKR!
Please see our August Rescue Roundup! 🐾

From fresh arrivals to sweet adoption wins, August was full of happy tails and fresh starts! Here’s a peek at our newest AKR alumni and current foster pups settling into their new lives:

✈️ Aug 23 (LAX) – Beomi landed in Los Angeles and moved in with his foster, Karen Chi! She reports he is an absolute sweetie who’s already best friends with her resident dog. He’s currently searching for his forever crew!

✈️ Aug 25 (YVR) – Camus was welcomed by foster Nasia Mak, but he didn’t stay on the market for long! Within just one week, Camus was adopted and is officially soaking up the good life in Canada! 🇨🇦

✈️ Aug 26 (YVR) – Odi is proving to be a true gentleman while staying with his foster family of Roxanne Coelho. He’s already playing big brother and looking out for his foster furry sister, Bona, on their daily walks! And we have great news, son Odi will fly to Toronto where his forever family is excited to call Odi their own!

✈️ Aug 28 (YVR) – The Big Arrival! Five wonderful pups touched down and are thriving in their new homes: • Rory moved to Calgary and is finding her brave voice! • Tutu is the ultimate gaming buddy, curling up for lap time while her human plays video games 🎮 • Marvin, now Salgu, which means apricot in Korean, made the trip to St. John’s and is busy making friends with his cat sibling 🐱 • EJ is embracing her playful side with her human brothers • Joy is already asking for all the pets and kisses!

✈️ Aug 31 (YVR) – Pudding wrapped up the month by flying into Vancouver to meet his foster family that is also considering his adoption. He’s adjusting wonderfully alongside two human siblings and a resident cat!

Congratulations to all our wonderful dogs and their forever families! A massive THANK YOU to our incredible fosters, drivers, and AKR volunteers who made these journeys possible. ❤️

🐾 AKR ARRIVALS & HAPPY UPDATES — AUGUST 26–30 🐾

Another week of new beginnings, new families, and little steps toward forever. 💕🏡🐶

🌸 Aug 26 — Dongi & Seoi | Sisters

These sweet sisters are starting their new journeys! 💕

Seoi has been adopted and is doing very well. Her family has been taking things slowly, separating her from their 11-year-old dog at first and gradually introducing them while working on training. Seoi is very friendly and affectionate — she even showed her belly on her very first day! 🥰 Her appetite is great, too. ❤️

Dongi, an 8-month-old, 15 kg Jindo mix, is also wonderfully friendly and affectionate. She loves people, enjoys making new friends, and is always happy to receive love and attention. 🐾❤️ She will be fostered while waiting for her permanent forever home.

🌸 Aug 30 — Ivy (aka Gomju)

Ivy is settling in nicely! 😊 At first, she wasn’t quite sure about Luna, but they are learning to respect each other and share their space. ❤️

On her second day, Ivy was still a little nervous and spent lots of time walking around, but she’s beginning to have calm moments where she can settle down. And there was a wonderful little milestone — Ivy pooped outside for the first time! 🎉🐶

Every new beginning takes time, and these little victories are worth celebrating. We’re so happy to see these pups finding their way home, one step at a time. 🏡💗

Welcome home, Seoi, Dongi & Ivy! 🐾❤️

🐾 AKR ARRIVAL & HAPPY UPDATE — AUGUST 17–21 🐾

Another week of new beginnings, new families, and little steps forward. 💕 Welcome home, sweet pups! 🏡🐶

🌸 Aug 17 — Aura (aka Orea)
Aura is slowly showing more of her personality as she settles into her new home. With help from her trainer, her family is learning to better understand her body language. There’s still work ahead, but they’ve already made great progress together. And of course, Aura has her very own Dalmatian-style stuffed toy! 🖤🤍🐾

🦴 Aug 20 — Hazel | Arrived at BOS
Hazel is doing GREAT! 🎉 She immediately knew the boxes of toys were for her and picked out all the bones — definitely a bone girl! 😂🦴 She loves her bed, follows her family around, supervises in the kitchen, and has explored the backyard and neighborhood. She even loved her first car ride! 🚗❤️ Hazel is settling in beautifully.

🌸 Aug 21 — Sori & Jiho
Jiho is doing wonderfully! 💕 She has a good appetite, walks nicely, and is starting to open up by bringing toys and asking for affection. Her family is letting her set the pace. Follow her adventures on Instagram: 🐾

Sori needs a little more time to adjust, and that’s okay. ❤️ She’s eating and drinking normally, while her family continues to give her the time and space she needs to feel safe and comfortable.

Every dog has their own timeline. We’re so grateful for families who give them the patience, love, and trust they need. 🏡💗

Welcome home, Aura, Hazel, Jiho & Sori! May your new lives be filled with love, cozy beds, favorite toys, happy walks, and forever families. 🐾❤️

Happy Gotcha & New Beginning! 🎉🐶

Roda has been an absolute angel in her new home! She's enjoying her salmon biscuits, loves going for walks, and is such a happy, sweet girl. 🥰

Day is settling in beautifully and loving the great outdoors! She enjoys taking in all the new smells, confidently tackled the stairs, and has so much energy despite her long journey. After a cozy first night, she's already exploring the gardens, asking for walks, and showing everyone just how much she loves being outside.

🐾 AKR Arrival Update – June 25, 26 & 29 🐾

A little belated, but we're happy to share an update on our late June arrivals!

Jett is doing great! He's eating, drinking well, full of energy, and already enjoying his toys.

Taeyang (Ollie) is also settling in well. He's sleeping peacefully, enjoying walks, eating and drinking well, playing with toys, and soaking up lots of cuddles.
