Jared Mortley Serving with Inter-Varsity High School

08/30/2026

As we start the last full week of summer please be praying for teachers and students getting ready to go back to school.
Many people especially grade 9s are nervous about all the new things, new classes, spaces, frineds, teachers.
These are also new opportunities to see God at work! Pray that we would all have the right perspective and see the possibilities to partner with God, share his love in the high schools and be salt and light.

Stay tuned also because we hope to have more prayer gatherings this year. At least one per semester and we would love to gather as many people as possible to pray.

Thanks for all the support!

Good afternoon everyone,
Leah and I want start a specific prayer team for our family. Many of you pray for us and I send out updates often with prayer requests for the ministry but our family has had some tough times lately and with both of us back in student ministry we really want to cover our family and work in prayer.
Here is a link to a form where you can sign up to be on our family prayer team.
Thank you as always for your support in the work we get to do with students.

Have a great day

With Leah and I both in ministry again we are especially reminded of the need to have people praying for us and our family intentionally. We plan to send out prayer requests when we need to this group of people about our family and sometimes about ministry related things. There is so much overlap be...

Hi everyone,
This week I'm back up at OPC.
The kids are here at Adventure Camp loving life and I'll be meeting with my staff to talk about plans for the coming school year, especially about how to follow up well with the LITs.

Pray for us as we strategize and dream of ways to help the LITs from this past summer continue to grow in their faith and follow Jesus back at home.
We are praying that it is not just what we want to see happen but that God would guide us as we plan.

I'm also working on some fundraising so that this work can be sustainable. I'd love to connect with you if you're interested to hear about all the awesome ways God has been working and what you can do to get involved and support the students.

Hope you are all having a great summer!

The first wave of LITs at Ontario Pioneer Camp are out on their placements now. The 2.5 weeks of training went by so fast and they were so great!

This summer I served through teaching some of the leadership sessions, leading worship a few times and as one of the Male section heads overseeing the male staff and LITs. I enjoyed getting to connect with the guys more intentionally than I could the last few years.

One of the highlights was some of the LITs took the initiative to start a Bible study every morning "Breakfast and Bibles" and they also started having worship and sharing testimonies every evening. The best part of it being totally led by the young men was that they wanted to encourage each other in their faith. The staff got to support and pray for them and the influence they had on their peers was so great! Sometimes guys come to camp feeling "too cool" to open up but they all softened by the end and were open to learn and grow.
I came into the dorm the first evening to find them singing and praying for each other and I knew that God was going to do amazing things this summer.
Praise God for how he is moving in this generation!
Please pray for all the LITs on their placements the next few weeks as they continue to grow and help younger campers follow Jesus.

This year I am supporting the new director and also mentoring and supporting the male small group leaders.
We have had an amazing time so far and Im so excited to see how God works through the team this year.

Tonight we had our final precamp staff Bible study in town at the beach.
Im so thankful I can support this work and I know God will do amazing things.
Pray for us and the LITs coming tomorrow, especially those who might be nervous.

Thank you!

I first met Sarah when she was a Grade 10 student at Humberside Collegiate and part of the Christian club. The following summer, she joined us at camp as an LIT and quickly grew into a leader. This year, she is stepping into the role of Director of our Special Needs Inclusion Program.

This morning, Sarah is helping train our senior staff alongside Amy Dempsey. Amy started this program in the 1970s and, now in her 80s, continues to disciple the next generation. I'm grateful for the way God has faithfully raised up people to serve and share the love of Jesus with those who may often feel excluded.
I'm also thankful for how InterVarsity fosters intergenerational ministry, encouraging people to follow Jesus and serve others throughout their lives.
Go Sarah!!

Please pray for camp as we prepare to share the love of Jesus this summer.

Good afternoon everyone,
It has been a busy few weeks. I finished all my speaking with the 9th time at West Toronto BIC Church where I was previously working part time as their youth pastor.
While I was there they also had a baptism Sunday and one of the youth I knew was baptized. In his testimony he shared that our youth retreat at Ontario Pioneer Camp in February was very important to him and making this next step.
I'm so grateful to have been part of his faith journey.

On Monday I will be going to camp to help the new LIT director. I love how much camp can help young people grow closer to Jesus.

If you know anyone interested in going to camp Ontario Pioneer is giving out a special 20% discount for any first time campers. Here's the discount code. Please feel free to share it!

I really can't say enough about how great camp is and how formational I have seen it be for many many youth.

Pray for me getting ready to go and for Leah and the kids wrapping up the school year.

Thank you everyone,

-Jared

Good morning everyone,
Thank you for all the prayers. The last few weeks have been busy. We had our GTA worship night gathering students and it went really well. As students finish the year especially the grade 12s getting ready to graduate we encouraged them to think about how they can have a lasting impact and answering Jesus call to be Salt and Light.
Big thanks to all the volunteers and student leaders who helped out.

I also had the privelege of speaking at a youth retreat last weekend. This isn't something I have done very often but it was a good learning experience and I enjoyed it.
Please be praying for students and that God's voice would be having the most influence in their lives. There is so much "noise" trying to compete for their attention and to distract them and I have been seeing how hard it is for them to develop healthy habits to stay close to Jesus.

Please also be praying for high school students as they finish the year and for the grade 12s especially graduating.

Finally please pray for the teachers who are working hard to end the year well, support students, and mark final assignments while getting ready for exams.

I am so thankful for all the teadchers who supported clubs this year on top of everything else they do.
Thank you also for all your prayers.

check out a few pictures from the last few weeks.
