So October 18th is around the corner. People ask me who makes up the Sharing Place. It isn’t one demographic. It’s actually a bit of everything. That said we do have a large number of seniors. On Tuesdays we meet between 12-2pm. We have coffee, share stories, play games. Last Tuesday one of our guests told us they had to have surgery. We are here to share with each other. Share our lives. Sometimes a hug, definitely encouragement, and even a prayer. I started this marathon training thinking I was going to do some world record because I’m not yet a senior. I’ve trained, been injured, trained, ran, injured again. It isn’t because of lack of trying but this never happened a decade ago. Father Time is undefeated. Truly the wording “my body broken for you” has rang through my head with a whole new meaning and understanding these days. They have a term for runners like me, “finisher.” That is how I feel about life sometimes. Records would be great but finishing is a challenge in itself. So although not an original goal what I strive for is to finish well. On October 18th join us, The Sharing Place, as we share hope in our actions as well as our words. Help us support our seniors.
