Annual General Meeting (AGM) Discussion: Rooted and Relevant: Reflecting on ICA’s Core Wisdom

After the business portion of the AGM, we will explore what’s at the heart of ICA, in Canada and around the world, and what must we carry with us into the future? Drawing on ICA’s rich history of participatory, human-centred approaches to change, this conversation invites us to reflect on the values, methods and vision that have defined our work for decades. Together, we’ll explore what remains essential and how we can keep ICA’s role and offerings meaningful and impactful in today’s rapidly shifting world.

We will share a link to a brief ICA historical overview (5-8 minute read) with all who RSVP in preparation for this discussion. We are looking forward to facilitating this conversation and hearing your insights.

Building a healthy workplace culture is something many leaders strive for—yet it can be one of the most challenging things to truly cultivate.
Culture is shaped not only by vision or values statements, but through everyday experiences, relationships, systems, and assumptions. Often, leaders and teams experience workplace culture very differently.

Join us for a facilitated Courage to Lead conversation exploring workplace culture through reflection, dialogue, and practical insight. This is not a training session, but a space to pause, think together, and engage more deeply with the realities of leadership and team dynamics.

We’re also delighted to welcome Deanne Gagnon, facilitator and consultant, whose thoughtful and grounded approach to leadership has been partly inspired by her own experience in Courage to Lead—making this collaboration especially meaningful.

On behalf of ICA Canada, we extend our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Dr. Jean Houston. Her lifelong commitment to human potential, leadership, and transformational change inspired people around the world and leaves a lasting legacy.

Through Jean's engagement across different cultures, she brought curiosity, wisdom, and a deep appreciation for the richness of diverse experiences and perspectives. ICA Canada is grateful to have had the opportunity to collaborate with her in the past and experienced the insight and spirit she brought to her work.

Our thoughts are with her family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives she touched.

Come join us on May 5th and June 2nd for this engaging series which dives into Workplace Culture. All are welcome to attend at any point in the series.

Let’s talk about Workplace Culture: A 3-part conversation series

Building a culture where people can do their best work is something most leaders genuinely strive for. And yet, even with the best intentions, this endeavour remains one of the hardest things to get right.

Evidence shows that a healthy workplace culture is built on more than messaging and good intentions. The norms, underlying assumptions, systems, and structures within organizations shape whether stated values are actually lived out in practice. Interestingly, it is not uncommon for leaders and their teams to see their cultures differently.

What gets in the way of experiencing a shared culture where everyone feels a sense of ownership and belonging? What factors contribute to a healthy workplace culture? And how do we actually live it out?

We will explore these questions together in this series. Please note that this is not a training; it is a facilitated conversation grounded in honest reflection and practical insights from the Courage to Lead and organizational behaviour and culture literature.

🌟In this series, we are also excited to welcome Deanne Gagnon. Deanne is a workplace culture consultant, facilitator, and speaker who helps teams build trust, improve communication, and work better together—especially in the messy middle of real work. With a strong focus on leadership development and team dynamics, Deanne brings a practical, human approach to workplace culture that goes beyond buzzwords and theory. Her sessions are known for being engaging, relatable, and grounded in real-world workplace challenges.

Deanne also previously participated in the Courage to Lead program and has shared with us that her consultancy was partly inspired by her involvement with ICA. We’re incredibly honoured to be collaborating with Deanne in this capacity.
